Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Singing For Fun

We had a wonderful time at Pocklingon Arts Centre this morning, at their weekly Singing For Fun - Dementia Friendly session. We sang some of our favourite songs, reminisced about memories the songs brought back to us, while enjoying refreshments and socialising with a lovely group of people.

Listening to, and enjoying music is a great way to come together and socialise. Aswell as being a great way of entertaining, music stimulates memories and enhances emotional and social wellbeing.

We are very passionate about the art of music here at Stamford Bridge Beaumont and it is always a great experience having the opportunity to go out into the local community to enjoy this with others.

Ladies Afternoon Tea

We had a wonderful time enjoying our ladies afternoon tea with some delicious scones, cakes and biscuits.

The afternoon tea was filled with lots of laughter, chatting and reminiscence and it’s safe to say there wasn’t many treats left at the end!

A great afternoon enjoyed by all.

Random Acts of Kindness Day

To mark the occasion we we went into the local village and gave out gifts to our local businesses, not only as a random act of kindness but to show appreciation to all the staff.

Kindness is one of the most important qualities that people can possess. Not only does it make the world a better place, but it can also have a positive impact on people’s mental and physical health.

Research has shown that acts of kindness produce Endorphins, which are hormones that have a natural pain-relieving effect. In addition, kindness can help to reduce stress levels and promote relaxation.

Valentines Day

Our hearts were full of love as we celebrated Valentines Day around the home.

Our residents have been busy making arts and crafts to decorate the home. To make the day even more special, Activity Coordinators, Wendy and Vicky went round and gave a special Valentines gift to everyone.

To continue the celebrations, this afternoon we welcomed one of our all time favourite entertainers, Dark Moon to join us for a party. All the residents came together to sing, dance and enjoy special Valentines refreshments!

Happy Valentines Day from all of us to you

National Pizza Day

We had a great time celebrating National Pizza Day. A day to celebrate one of world’s favourite foods. But where did pizza come from?

The first pizza is thought to have been made in Italy over 1000 years ago. It was a simple dish of flatbread topped with cheese and herbs. The first recorded mention of pizza was in a Latin text from Gaeta in Southern Italy in 997 AD. The text reads: “Neapolitans bake their bread under the ashes”.

However, it wasn’t until the late 1800s that pizza as we know it began to take shape. Italian immigrants brought their love of pizza to America, and soon pizzerias were popping up all over the country. Today, pizza is more popular than ever, with new toppings and styles being created all the time.

Residents had a great time making their own pizza, choosing from a selection of different toppings.

We finished the day off by tasting our creations and they certainly did not disappoint!

A wonderful, tasty day enjoyed by all.
