Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

World Braille Day

World Braille Day is celebrated every year on the 4th January, the birthday of Louis Braille. Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with the fingers, and it is used by people who are blind or have low vision. The system was invented by Louis Braille when he was just fifteen years old, and it has been helping people to read and write for over 200 years.

On World Braille Day, we celebrate the life of Louis Braille and the incredible gift that he has given to the world. We also remember that blindness is no barrier to achievement, and we celebrate the accomplishments of all people who are blind or have low vision.

Pamper Morning

We spent a wonderful morning in the Terrace lounge with our lovely residents enjoying Coffee, Tea and Mince Pies and Shortbread around our Christmas Tree chatting about how we all spent our Christmas time.

Our lovely ladies have enjoyed hand massages and nail care this morning and lots of fun and laughter.

We've also spent time visiting residents in their rooms and chatting about their Christmas presents etc, and David kindly allowed me to take photos of his fabulous Christmas decorations which are absolutely amazing, and I think his lovely family especially Hannah and Jo may have had some involvement in this!

Christmas Theatre Performance

As the festivities continue, we enjoyed a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk by Carousel Theatre Company

The residents sang along to, When I Wish Upon a Star, Hey Big Spender and other well known classics. To finish off the performers and staff sang an array of Christmas Carols.

It was a wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by all.

Kindness at Christmas

Uur lovely residents have been helping us to arrange donated surplus food items for I am Reusable which is a wonderful and very much needed and appreciated Food Bank based in York and serving a wide community.

John McGall is doing such amazing and greatly valued work, and all his team of workers are making a real difference to people's lives especially at Christmas when many individuals and families are in desperate need of help and support.

All offers of help and generosity are so very well received at any time of the year, but especially welcome over the Winter months, when life is especially difficult for many, and it's important for us all to think of others, who are very sadly less fortunate than ourselves and more so at Christmas time.

A huge thank you to all those who have supported and to those who are doing so at the moment. Your help WILL make a massive difference and hopefully will change lives for the better!

Ladies That Lunch

Ladies that Lunch!

Today we have tried a new idea courtesy of our lovely Nurse Olivia! Two of our residents have joined each other from different parts of the home to have a beautiful lunch together in our elegant Dining room. The conversation has flowed beautifully and both Jean and Mary have found lots of common interests to share.

They have both chosen different starters from the fabulous menu, different mains and different desserts but have both thoroughly enjoyed their delicious lunch, arranged by Maria, Amy and our wonderful catering team!

A lovely idea and a great success we will definitely be doing Ladies that Lunch on a very regular basis!

Knit and Natter

We had a lovely afternoon at our Knit and natter group it's definitely taken on a festive theme! We've been knitting in a lovely group around one of our beautifully decorated Christmas trees chatting about all our very exciting Christmas activities that we'll be facilitating over the next 12 days!

Our lovely ladies have been literally knitting their socks off over the past few weeks. Alice has knitted an amazing Tortoise who will be going off to his new home shortly just in time for the BIG day!, and has also knitted a beautiful Elephant who we all have been busy naming this afternoon.

Margaret has knitted fantastic Hats and Scarves and numerous Teddy Bears in a variety of colours, all of them have now gone to their respective new homes, and will I'm sure be greatly admired.
