Activities at South Chowdene Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Niki Powell

Activities Coordinator

I arrange meaningful activities for all of our residents based on their likes and interests. I love sharing fun times with our residents, their families and with staff. I thoroughly enjoy chatting with residents about their hobbies/interests as well as reminiscing in small groups.

Our activities extend beyond the home with trips to places of interest, places residents have enjoyed throughout their lives eg. Seaside, parks, garden centers, as well as craft/ art workshops at libraries and general interest talks around the area.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at South Chowdene Care Home

Come sing!

We had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.

Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.

There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

National Cream Tea

We had a wonderful day as we celebrated National Cream Tea Day.  Our residents were treated to a delicious afternoon cream tea, and some of our residents enjoyed the sunny weather and had their cream teas out in the garden. Of course no afternoon cream tea is complete without a nice cuppa tea! It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

Celebrating Father's Day

Residents at South Chowdene put on a brave face for Fathers’ Day as we welcomed various animals into the home. Theo the Macau gave us a fair few laughs and Ollie the Owl absolutely amazed everyone with his head antics and flying off all over the lounge.

Getting out and about for picnic week

Several residents have been visiting various parks across the area all set with picnic boxes and blankets. We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the parks and reminiscing over our delicious picnics.

Special guest residents

6 new residents have taken over the lounge at South Chowdene, no one can pass without taking a peak and we sometimes can’t hear ourselves think for the chirping – but they are so cute!

Nutrition and Hydration Week

Throughout Nutrition and Hydration week, South Chowdene residents have been learning about different vitamins and minerals in various foods. Today we were thinking about how different colours of fruit give us a balanced and tasty Fruit Salad – all made by our own fair hands.
