Lara Masucci

General Manager

Hi, my name is Lara and I am an Operations Manager supporting as acting General Manager here at South Chowdene.  Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life. I have worked as an Ops manager with Barchester since 2008.

Before coming to Barchester I commissioned the home and have grown it with the team into the home it is today. I started in care 23 years ago and worked myself up from a junior care assistant to Nurse and eventually into Nursing Management. I have held Nursing and Management roles in Hospital, Hospice and Care Homes and have commissioned new luxury homes as well as turned around homes in need of improvement and support.

I am very passionate about ensuring the residents receive the best care and life experiences and bring my post graduate specialty in palliation, leadership and management wherever I go to support our fantastic care teams. I work with a long standing supportive team who aim to achieve the best for the home.

I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Maria Pegram

Deputy Manager

I am a qualified nurse with a variety of experience ranging from care of the elderly to orthopedics and more recently, I working as a Practice Placement Facilitator.

I have a passion for education and thrive from supporting those who are keen to learn and get as much out of the placement as they possibly can. I have established a good working relationship with both the local University and College and I am proud to say we support those students who wish to follow their dreams and become nurses in the future.

I love working at South Chowdene as a Deputy Manager as we have a fabulous team who are more like an extended family rather than members of staff.

Clare Lambert-Gardiner

Home Administrator

Hi, my name is Clare and I am the home administrator here at South Chowdene.  I have worked for Barchester for over 11 years and in my role I deal with all aspects of the administration of the home to ensure it runs smoothly, from invoicing, ordering, recruitment, setting up contracts, to manning the telephones, there's never a dull day!

Before becoming the homes administrator over 7-years ago, a role my Mother also held.  I spent a number of years as activities coordinator. South Chowdene is more than a workplace to me, it is my second home and family. Even so much my sister now works here as a RGN and my eldest daughter is a Care Assistant here.

Barbara Reacher

Head Chef

Hi, My name is Barbara Reacher and I have been Head Chef here at South Chowdene since 2012.  I am very passionate about my work and no 2 days here are the same. I take pleasure in seeing the Resident’s enjoying their meals and meeting all of their dietary needs whilst ensuring each Resident has a positive dining experience each day.

I have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren who I love spending my spare time with.

Niki Powell

Activities Coordinator

I arrange meaningful activities for all of our residents based on their likes and interests. I love sharing fun times with our residents, their families and with staff. I thoroughly enjoy chatting with residents about their hobbies/interests as well as reminiscing in small groups.

Our activities extend beyond the home with trips to places of interest, places residents have enjoyed throughout their lives eg. Seaside, parks, garden centers, as well as craft/ art workshops at libraries and general interest talks around the area.

Susan MacDonald

Head Housekeeper

Hi, my name is Susan MacDonald and I am Head Housekeeper here at South Chowdene.

I have worked here for many years in different roles, from Care Assistant through to Housekeeper. I firmly believe in the ‘whole home approach’, so I continue wherever possible to work in different departments, and maintain my training in each. Here at South Chowdene, we are whatever residents and their loved ones need us to be at that moment; we are family and we work as one, which creates a lovely environment for those who live here. I love getting to know those we support and their loved ones.

I have a keen interest in health and safety, so I am also the Health and Safety Champion.

I take great pride at Chowdene; it truly is a home from home. I am always touched when I look around and the residents, their loved ones and staff are dancing around in a beautiful, clean safe home, knowing that I’ve contributed to that.

My daughter comes into the home regularly and residents love seeing her.

Bev Fitzpatrick

Nursing Care Assistant

Hi, my name is Bev, and I started working at South Chowdene in 2004. I work as a nursing care assistant, and I love all aspects of my job, but I am most passionate about supporting people who are living with dementia. I am a Dementia Champion, as well as a Dignity Champion, and I also hold a diploma in health and social care.

I am a proud grandmother and love bringing the babies into work to see residents and their loved ones, which they both love.

I truly believe South Chowdene is the best home around, and because we all genuinely value and respect those we support, residents love living here.
