Activities at Lawton Rise Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kate Franks

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Kate Franks and I have returned to Lawton Rise August 2023 to work as an Activities Coordinator.  I started my career working as a Legal Secretary in the Conveyancing department before leaving to commence employment with the Health Authority as a Medical Secretary.

After having my two children I retrained to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School for ten years and studied for a Higher Level Teaching Assistance qualification enabling to progress my career.

Due to illness within my family I needed to focus on a role closer to home but I am delighted to be able to return to the home and it feels like I have never been away. The staff and residents are so welcoming and helpful and I am really pleased that I have returned.

Life at Lawton Rise Care Home

Carer celebrates 25-years

Adele, our Senior Carer, celebrated 25 years of long service in the home.  She celebrated with residents and staff on this very special day.  Adele is still as enthusiastic about her role in the home, as the day she first started many years ago.

Virtual book event

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.

Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Residents across the homes found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.  Book club corner is part of our varied life enrichment programme.  A great time was had by all.

Birthday celebrations

What a week of celebrations we have had at Lawton Rise!  Our lovely resident Jeanette celebrated her 90th birthday with all of her friends in the home.  We had singing, dancing and some beautiful party food.  All of the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the smiles on their faces were amazing.

A fun-filled afternoon with Britt!

The residents at Lawton Rise enjoyed a fun packed afternoon singing and dancing along with Britt.  Britt has been coming into the home to entertain the residents for a long time and it has been a pleasure to welcome her back.  As usual, Britt brought a selection of hats from different countries to involve the residents with songs from all over the world.

Residents enjoyed singing duets with Britt, whilst others danced with staff and other residents.

Virtual event with vocal coach

Our homes had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.

Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.

There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.
