Activities at Lawton Rise Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lawton Rise Care Home

Valentine's Pub Night
We filled the home with love heart bunting, cards, cocktails and cold beers for a pub evening in
celebration of St Valentine’s Day.
Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by having a classic pub night filled with games,
snooker on the TV, Karaoke, drinks, and laughter.
One resident Dorothy, mentioned “I love the music and I am happy everyone is celebrating with one
another.”
Jim another resident said that, “It had been a while since I’ve enjoyed a cold beer with the snooker
on, what a lovely way to end my day.”

Brit performs for Lawton Rise!
Residents and guests at Lawton Rise enjoyed a morning of grins and laughter with a live music
performance that took place at the home. Singer Brit performed a selection of classic hits including:
Elvis and favourite songs suggested by residents.
We all joined in with the singing, and clapped along as the singer performed their finale song,
Tipperary. The activities team at the home also provided musical instruments for guests to enjoy and try out during the show.
Staff within the home, said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the lovely Brit, and always enjoy her company. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Lawton Rise as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”
One resident said “She’s just wonderful isn’t she? How she gets us all moving!”

Alpaca Visit
Lawton Rise care home, in Goldenhill, was full of animal mischief, when two lovely alpacas came to visit the home.
Residents at Lawton Rise were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friends roaming around their garden as Knightley alpaca trekking paid a visit, the alpacas were so loving and friendly, they enjoyed having a cuddle more than we did!
One named Carlos he was very handsome and enjoyed looking at himself any opportunity he got,
And one named Teddy who was the cuddler of the two.
Staff members and relatives said: “We haven’t had one resident that doesn’t like the alpacas, they reacted brilliantly and really seemed to enjoy the alpacas visiting us here at Lawton Rise”
Resident Jean was very excited by the Knightley alpaca’s trekking’s animals: “I have always loved animals, especially the ones you don’t see as often, the alpacas are very loving.”

Sensory and Relaxation Room
Our staff have worked hard to turn the hairdressers into a multi-functional room.
In the day, it’s a hairdresser’s, at nighttime it’s a lovely calm environment to sit and relax and enjoy watching the lights. Since being there, it has been a popular space to sit and reminisce. This has also created the perfect environment for namaste time, which is a favoured activity within the home.

Knit and Natter with Jean
Jean always talks about how her mother and sister help her to knit her cardigans. This is something that Jean is proud of.
So, the activities team asked Jean if she would be able to help the staff make a scarf for a little 6-month-old baby girl. Jean was happy to help and asked for measurements.
Jean sat down and began knitting. Jean wanted to know all about the little baby and had many stories to share with the team. We now hold a knit and natter club around the home, so Jean and other residents can enjoy a past hobby with others and share meaningful stories with one another.

Barbara's Payday
Barbara used to be a lunch lady, and since joining us at Lawton Rise, she's enjoyed making tea and toast for residents in the morning, and enjoys helping the staff to set the tables and providing the cutlery. Barbara is always keen to lend a hand, whether this be a cleaning job, or offering friendly advice, Barbara is there for everyone.
So for Barbara, our lovely staff came up with a great idea to show Barbara some appreciation. The staff had made Barbara her very own payslip, and then the following day the activities team printed out some money, laminated it and handed Barbara her ‘wages’.
Barbara's reaction was lovely to see, as this made her day. Barbara was anxiously waiting for her money since receiving her payslip, and when her money arrived she was made up, counting it and putting it in her purse.
