Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Lovely Lighthouse!
Residents were recently in awe of a very special model brought in by one of our resident's family members...
Anne, daughter of the lovely Sheila, has a big passion for Lego models, buying them second-hand online, before attempting to build them - We were very impressed, simply with her sorting out all of the bricks in the first instance! (When purchased new, the bricks are packaged and marked up, but when bought second-hand, often in a box mixed together!)
So, Anne thought it might be nice to show her mum and some of the other residents one of her smaller achievements; a wonderful lighthouse model, complete with working light.
The residents were transfixed with this and very impressed indeed! However, Anne then showed them another picture of her Eiffel Tower model. This structure stands at a height of almost five feet tall and sadly very difficult to transport!
Keep going, Anne! Your models are amazing and we would love to see more in future.

Cheese & Wine Evening
Earlier on last week Kings Park held a wonderful cheese & wine evening in honour of introducing our lovely Senior General Manager to everyone properly...
We welcomed our wonderful friends and family, along with many of our residents, who all came together for this lovely, relaxed affair,
With entertainment from the very fabulous, Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music and LOTS of delicious cheese to nibble on and wine flowing, everyone appeared to really enjoy the atmosphere.
Jenna took a few moments on the mic to introduce herself properly to everyone, before doing the rounds, spending time with individuals to chat further.
We wish to thank everyone who came along to support this event and feel that due to it's success, will be planning similar events for the future!

Fun & Games...
There was a lot of laughter and giggling up on our Memory Lane floor recently...
What, oh, what was going on up there?
Well, here at Barchester Healthcare's Kings Park, we are all about 'Celebrating Life' in whatever way we can, so that's exactly what we did!
A supersized session of fun and games was on the cards for all our residents, with everyone gathering up on our Memory Lane floor, where there was table tennis, hook-a-duck, darts, and shooting targets available for all to join in.
Everyone had a go, even our staff got involved, showing off a little!
There was so much in the way of fun and laughter, with all our residents who joined in having the very best afternoon.
Let's hope we can do many more similar afternoons as we progress further into 2024.

Scrabblers United!
Steve, was back at Kings Park recently, along with his GIANT Scrabble board, getting everyone using their brains for another high tension match...
It was Kings Park residents vs. Steve this time and it was a very close run match, with the residents finally pipping Steve to the win by a very narrow margin of only 2 points!
GO, TEAM KINGS PARK!!!! We knew you could do it!
THANK YOU, Steve, for another wonderful afternoon well spent - The residents have really enjoyed themselves.

Nailing it!
Our fabulous Activities Lead, Claudia, recently set up a pop-up nail salon in our ground floor cafe area and she wasn't short of clientele...
The residents were all keen to take it in turns to receive a file and a polish, creating some wonderfully elegant nails as a result.
With so many colours of polish to pick from, they were really spoilt for choice!
Don't they look lovely?

A Song and a Dance!
We welcomed the wonderful Bee Chumley Vocalist to our home to entertain our lovely residents recently...
Gathering up in our Memory Lane lounge, residents were loving Bee's music, getting off their chairs for some dancing and singing along!
Just take a look at how happy they all were as they enjoyed their musical afternoon.
THANK YOU, Bee, for the most wonderful session.
We very much look forward to seeing you again very soon and everyone commented about your beautiful dress too! It was lovely!
