Activities at Hilton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo
Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.
Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

D-Day Celebrations
We've been so busy here in Hilton Park celebrating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We started our morning by visiting our local village in Bottisham to watch the flag-raising ceremony, commemorating this pivotal moment in history. We read books to our residents in their bedrooms, while some residents focused on watching the live event on television.
We also had special visits from military reenactors, who flew in from Holland to celebrate D-Day in England, particularly at the Bottisham Airfield Museum. They visited the memorial park around the villages with their Military jeep , and we are fortunate to work closely with the Bottisham Airfield Museum and arrange their visit with us.
Our visitors were amazed by the story of one of our residents, Dorothy, and her secret code-breaking days at Bletchley Park. Many of our residents shared stories from their youth, with Bryan brought to tears while recounting stories. We all had a lovely D-Day celebration, enjoying music by Banjo Man as residents waved flags, sang along, and clapped. Morwenna, one of our residents, said it was worth taking the time to remember.

A trip back in time for Anne
We recently had a beautiful trip to Anglesey Abbey and Gardens where everyone enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens, taking in the summer sun and the fresh air.
Whilst it might have been a normal outing for us, it was very special for one of our residents, Anne. Anne shared her lovely story of how she volunteered at Anglesey Abbey for almost seven years before moving to Hilton Park.
Anne and her fellow residents had a wonderful time chatting and enjoying a cup of tea and, once we had returned to Hilton Park, Anne expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for this beautiful opportunity of visiting Anglesey Abbey once again".

Eyes Down!!!!
Earlier in the week we had a very competitive afternoon of bingo with all of our fellow Barchester homes across the country!
We played online against each other and competed for lines and full houses. Our Hilton Park team played well and won three full houses. Residents and family had a great time, especially when they received hamper prizes donated by Tesco Community and enjoyed the fresh fruit afterwards.
Congratulations to Gill, Richard, and Jacqui, our winners this time. We look forward to joining again next month.

VE Day Celebrations
We had a lovely time celebrating VE Day at Hilton Park.
Our day began with a journey through history and reminiscence, followed by an afternoon party featuring live music by Kirsty, who entertained us with fantastic songs from the 1940s. Our residents were thrilled, singing along to familiar tunes and enjoying every moment.
Thanks to everyone who made today so special.

Did somebody say chocolate!!
This year is the 200th anniversary of Cadbury and to celebrate this milestone, Hilton Park joined forces with Cadbury to celebrate the latter's the big day.
Cadbury provided us with presentation packs featuring a variety of their chocolates in unique wrappings and the residents enjoyed a virtual presentation on Cadbury's rich history, participated in an engaging quiz, and had the pleasure of sampling an assortment of Cadbury products.

Celebrating Dementia Week
We have recently been celebrating Dementia Week with lots of joyful activities both in and out of the home.
This Dementia Week, our residents have enjoyed a heart-warming line-up of activities, including animal therapy, engaging sensory sessions, and delightful trips to our local communities.
From the comfort and companionship of furry friends to stimulating sensory activities that evoke wonderful memories, and refreshing community outings that keep us connected – every moment has been truly special.
We are dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents with experiences that bring joy, comfort, and a sense of belonging.
