Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard
Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.
I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.
Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home

Local school paint Bird Boxes
Fun was had by all here at Highfield Care Home, we strive to be more than "just a care home" welcoming local communities to utilise our space and get involved with our residents.
So, when we were delivered these beautifully hand painted Bird Houses, from Barkston Ash Catholic Primary School - we simply couldn't say no. We look forward to the children joining us soon as part of our life enrichment intergenerational links.

D Day Celebrations
Residents from Highfield Care Home visited Sherburn in Elmet Methodist Church for their D Day Celebrations. Enjoying Fish and Chips from the local chippy and meeting the local MP!

Wonders of the ocean
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.

We are officially open!
Our new luxury care home in Tadcaster, has opened its doors in style, with a Grand Opening performed by the Mayor of Tadcaster, Councillor David Bowgett, in front of invited guests from the local community.
Chief Executive Officer, Dr Pete Calveley, and General Manager, Rebekka Richardson, hosted the event and invited guests to view the stunning new 66 bed care home, along with its beautiful landscaped gardens, which is now open and welcoming its first residents.

Celebrating Cadbury's
Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heartwarming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!

Taste testing the dining experience
As part of our extensive training programme we had the pleasure of welcoming our Hospitality Specialists Siddharth and Mervyn to Highfield Care Home.
Our team had the opportunity to participate in the dining experience, ensuring our future residents dining requirements and needs are met.
