Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard
Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.
I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.
Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home

Competition Games Day
At Highfield Care Home residents enjoyed some healthy competition amongst themselves and the staff. We had games such as dominoes and Connect Four, which was a great hit, especially as a players advantage is another players disadvantage. With others watching on, it is a difficult game to watch as they have their own ideas how to play and most importantly how to win.
The residents are looking forward to a more regular games day at Highfield Care Home.

World Music Day
Highfield Care Home have celebrated World Music Day, by listening to some of the residents favourite hits.
There are many favourites amongst the residents at Highfield Care Home. From a sing-a-long to the great King Elvis Presley, to a chair dance to swing and jazz music, to a heartfelt belting of some of the greatest War Songs. You will find most days there’s country or classical music coming from one of the lounges.
The lounge was filled with joy while they all shared their favourite artists and toe tapped along.

Colourful Gardens
In June, Highfield Care Home celebrated British Flowers Week.
Margaret and Alison have had a fantastic time looking at adding new colours to Highfield’s stunning, landscaped gardens. Highfield is set in a beautiful and tranquil open parkland, overlooking a lake and in close proximity to the historic Roman Catholic Church of Scarthingwell Park.
The residents of Highfield can’t wait to get involved in potting and planting, to make their resident gardens their own.
Alison is excited to add yellow and gold hue’s to the gardens, and Margaret has ordered blue’s and purples.
The Highfield team are looking forward to the added colours chosen by the residents.

Carers Week
We recently celebrated #CarersWeek, a time to recognise the incredible carers we have in our Highfield Care Home family.
Every day, our carers go above and beyond to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of our residents, and that fun is had by all. Their dedication and compassion shines through in every act, whether it's a kind word, a gentle touch, or simply being there to listen.
To all our carers, THANK YOU for your invaluable contribution, you are truly amazing

Enjoying the sunshine
Our beautiful garden is a great environment for our residents and families to sit in, relax and enjoy a variety of amazing outdoor activities.
With the help of our residents and staff, we have decorated our grounds with colourful plants and created seating areas throughout for the summer months.
In our outdoor space we happily welcome entertainers, community members, families and friends, and organise specially selected activities, sessions and games.
Fun was had by all!

Interactive fun with our magic table
We love our 'magic table' and enjoy spending time exploring its plethora of functions and games. The huge interactive, touch screen can be wheeled anywhere in our care home enabling all residents where ever they are to enjoy it.
Whether a resident would like to complete a jigsaw, like Alison or whether they wish to join in on quizzes or video call a loved one, the table has so much to offer.
