Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Visit to Home of Rest for Horses

Last week two of our residents had such an enjoyable day out when we visited The Horse Trust, Home of Rest for Horses in Buckinghamshire.

The Home of Rest for Horses has been providing retirement and respite to working horses and ponies for over 130 years.

It was a lovely day, getting to interact with the horses and learn all about how they are cared for when they retire there.

Courtyard Transformation Project

This week we started our little courtyard transformation project!

Our gardening club spent a sunny afternoon gardening in the courtyard ready to fill our pots and flower beds with new plants.

After preparing our courtyard, it was then time to head to the garden centre to choose some new plants and flowers!

We made a trip over to Hartwell Nurseries and enjoyed looking around at all the plants and flowers they had to offer.

We chose some flowers we thought would look beautiful in our courtyard, and we are looking forward to our next Gardening club afternoon to begin planting!

Today we celebrated National Fish & Chip day!

We enjoyed a lovely lunch in our dining room, which we turned into a Fish & Chip Diner for the day!

We tried sweet potato fries with a bite-sized piece of beer battered cod, followed by a delicious dish we'd never had before - Fish & Chip pie!

Dominos

One of our residents Eric shared with us how he used to enjoy playing dominoes on a Friday night in the pub - so we created more fond memories of one of his favourite pastimes!

Eric challenged one of the team to a few games, whilst he also sipped on a Shandy!

Eric enjoyed explaining to us the 'proper' way to play, and of course he won!

Big Lunch BBQ Party

Our Big Lunch BBQ Party was lots of fun!

We celebrated the King's Coronation with live entertainment from Smokey Joe Entertainment and a delicious BBQ, followed by the 'Coronation Quiche'.

It was lovely to be able to invite our family and friends to join us for a wonderful day!

We  also enjoyed watching the wonderful Troubadour Productions!

Open Day

On Saturday 15th April we held our Open Day to welcome the local community into our home to see the recent refurbishment that has been designed with residents' comfort, well-being, and happiness in mind.

We were also thrilled to welcome back Richard the Saxophonist to play for us and those who came to visit.

We all had a lovely day and enjoyed welcoming friends and family into our beautiful home!
