Activities at Hagley Place Care Home
Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Mandy Hayward
Activities Coordinator
I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.
Celebrating life at Hagley Place Care Home

Every Friday is George Day
George has been absolutely amazing at bringing motivation to our lunges and has made such an impact on our residents too with his seated exercise sessions and his cheesy jokes.
He is a massive hit at Hagley Place with residents, their families and friends, along with all the staff.
Everyone is welcome to come and join us for George’s exercise classes!

Holy Communion and Christmas Puddings
Our Holy communion is run by Ruth, and today she spoke to us about the myths and traditions of Christmas puddings, with all of us making a wish as we stirred the mixtures together.
Popular Myth - “The pudding should be made on the 25th Sunday after Trinity, it should be prepared with 13 ingredients to represent Christ and the 12 apostles, and every family member should stir it in turn from East to West to honour the 3 wise men and their journey in that direction.”

EnabLE!
We did it!
Hagley Place is now live with Enable, our digital care planning system.
This switchover will allow us to streamline our documentation of the care we provide, marking down all interactions as they happen, freeing up more time for us to spend some well deserved quality time with our residents.
A HUGE thank you has to be made to our incredible transposing team who have spent the last 3 weeks making sure all of our residents care profiles were transferred accurately to Enable with the most in depth knowledge possible, none of this would be possible without you.
Here’s to an exciting step forward!

Bonfire Night
We invited two of our sister homes over to join us for fireworks and hot dogs on November 5th and a brilliant night was had by all.
Great food, great company and a brilliant light show created the perfect November atmosphere as we celebrated bonfire night together.

Olympics - care home style
To entertain our residents, our staff performed a care home version of the Olympic games. Events included wheelchair races, fastest bed change and even a drinks relay race.

Cosford Air Museum
Many of our residents have served in the armed forces or emergency services and we took a trip down memory lane with some of those who served in the RAF.

Loved ones day out
It's important within care to also support our residents families, so we took a few family members on a much deserved day out to Elan Valley to make sure they got a little R&R of their own.

Thank you to the NHS
July 5th marked the 76th birthday of our incredible NHS. We are fortunate to have amazing relationships with our local GP surgeries and community hospital, and so well felt it only right to show our appreciation on such a special day and delivered them all breakfast baskets as a thank you for all their hard work.
Gardening Club in full swing
The weather played ball and allowed us to finally replant our planters. Didn’t our gardeners do a great job?
This is the first phase in turning a part of our garden into a veg and fruit patch for a quiet and reflective place for our residents to go to.
1 to 1 trips out
Since we’ve had such glorious weather this month we chose to take advantage and take a couple of our residents on special outings all of their own
Ian, went for a tour of his home town, where he showed us his childhood home and even, by chance, bumped into his Godson!
Deb, is our longest resident at Hagley and has hardly ever been able to leave the home, we managed to do a special trip to the Safari Park for her and her mum where Deb was able to enjoy all manner of animals.
Gardening Club
Today the weather finally relented and let us start our gardening project. Our aim is to turn an unused area of the garden into a relaxing spot to grow our own herbs, fruits and vegetables.
We started by planting our herbs and other plants in our standing flower beds. As you can see from the before and after pictures, it was an afternoon well spent. Thank you Hagley Gardeners!
At Hagley Place we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.

PRIDE!
Friday July 28th, we had our very first Hagley PRIDE party, celebrating love and all things that make us unique. We were accompanied by 2 Drag artist from Shrewsbury PRIDE who entertained staff and residents alike.

Cello Player Visits
Music is for the soul. Everyone enjoys a song and a dance and what more beautiful instrument is there than the cello? One of our regular visitors offered up their services, and we were happy to accept! A beautiful day, listening to beautiful music.

Moor Park School Visit
We always love a visit from our local schools. This year we teamed up with Moor Park school so that we had weekly visits from them where they would play games, read, tell stories, bake and paint with our residents. It has been a beautiful joining of ages and one that has brought such joy to all involved.

Swing Ball
Off the back of our sunny days and detailing the importance of exercise and mental health we invested in a swing ball for our garden, as you can see it is having a lot of use and creating some very fond memories.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
