Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Mandy Hayward

Activities Coordinator

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Life at Hagley Place Care Home

Painting Memories

Painting Memories

Painting has always been hailed as therapeutic and residents at Hagley Place are encouraged to participate in this wonderful activity through guided sessions. Each resident has their own unique story to tell and express through artistic means.

Two of our residents gave us a lovely look at their favourite memory of holidays expressed in their unique style.

Singalong Session

Singalong Session

Robert Burton came to lead us in a rousing singalong. There were all the toe-tapping favourites and everyone had a great time singing and dancing! What a wonderful way to spend a snowy and cold afternoon.

Valentine's Day

Hagley Place enjoyed a very romantic Valentine’s Day, with every resident receiving a fresh red rose and a heart shaped chocolate. There was a Valentine's-themed meditation session and lots of lovely treats to eat.

Residents were delighted to receive their roses & chocolates (even the men!) and one lady said it was so special, as she remembered her husband giving her a red rose as well.

Winnie the Pooh Day

Hagley Place couldn’t ‘bear’ to miss celebrating Winnie the Pooh Day with students from Ludlow Junior School. There were honey cookies, honey cake and honey sandwiches, with stories being read by Michelle Jones.

Winnie the Pooh Day is a celebration of all things A.A. Milne and it is held each year on 18th of January, which is the author's birthday.

Quality Cards

Quality Cards

Residents spent the afternoon relaxing and making beautiful cards! There was much laughter and reminiscing about birthday celebrations and weddings where funny and unusual cards had been received. It was such a lovely afternoon!

Pony Visit

Pony Visit

Hagley Place was visited not by one, but by two delightful miniature Shetland ponies! The residents were delighted and thrilled to meet both gentle beasts and the ponies even went around to residents' rooms for those who are less mobile.

Once they had met everyone downstairs, it was then time for a trip in the lift up to our Memory Lane community, where they had a wonderful time meeting everyone there. One residents, who has trouble seeing, held her hand out, and when one of the ponies touched it, she exclaimed, “They’re real,” and was so happy to stroke the soft muzzle and forelock.
