Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Life at Hagley Place Care Home

VE Day Celebrations

At 11am, residents and team held a special VE Day memorial, graciously lead by Hagley’s veteran, Bill. Residents made personalised postcards to their friends and families, and we enjoyed a quiz and indulged in a beautiful cream tea supplied by our wonderful kitchen team.

Employee of the Month

Here is Kay Thomas who is part of our Housekeeping Team being awarded to employee of the month by Mary-Jane, General Manager. Kay was nominated by her colleagues and residents for constantly going above and beyond her role while always showing kindness and compassion to the residents.

Congratulations Kay!

Big Birthday Celebrations

Mary-Jane organised a big birthday for some of our residents who all had birthday’s within a few days of each other. We basked in the sunshine, danced to music and ate some lovely cakes and sandwiches supplied by our kitchen team.

Easter 2020

We had a fabulous Easter with glorious sunshine. We had an Easter Bonnet Parade organised and designed by the residents. Along with our glamorous assistant our activities team handed out flowers and chocolates to our residents from the General Manager.

Tracy, our gardener and some of the other team members painted a rainbow on our car park for all the residents to see!

Macmillan Coffee morning

On Friday the 27th of September, Hagley place hosted a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan cancer research. We had a selection of delicious cakes including chocolate, salted caramel, lemon drizzle and Victoria sponge. We had a few games for the residents and families to take part in including, name the teddy, how many berries in a pie and a raffle with amazing prizes.

To add to the excitement of the morning, we also had 'Robert Burton' come to sing and play the accordion for us. We had classics such as 'Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag', 'It's a long way to Tipperary' and 'Roll out the barrel' Everyone cheered and clapped along but by the end we were up dancing!

We all really enjoyed ourselves and raised money for a good cause that will help benefit the lives of others.

Puzzle fun!

At Hagley place we have dozens of puzzles with beautiful pictures. We all worked as a team on this particular puzzle which we eventually finished. One of our residents, Olive, said ‘FINALLY, we have finished this! You know this could be framed and put on the wall'.
