Activities at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Marie Spires
Marie Joined Hafan Y Coed in February as the Lead Activities Coordinator. Marie has come from a Sales and Marketing background but has always had an interest in working in the care sector. Marie will lead the activities team and have a lot of input in the day to day organising and planning of events. Marie said “ I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to making a difference to the life enrichment for the residents. I like to make people happy and think my bubbly personality will brighten the residents day. I have a love for singing and will definitely be heard around the home for sure! I hope our new activities team will make a huge difference to the day to day lives of the residents at Hafan y Coed

Candle Making
The residents enjoyed a candle making class, where they decorated them for gifts for family members. Some residents got a little too excited with the glitter!
A trip out
We went to the local Concert venue to enjoy a cream tea and concert for the extended Jubilee celebration. A great day was had by all who went on this trip.
Gardening Club
Gardening fun ready for the summer! We have welcomed Christine, one of our residents wife’s, to help plant some flowers in the grounds. I think you’ll all agree how wonderful they look!
Baking
We enjoy baking at least once a week. Here the residents are seen enjoying baking Fairy Cakes! These pictures demonstrate all residents, no matter what ability can help with the baking method and all are encouraged to join in the fun
Jubilee Celebrations
We hosted an action packed week of fun to celebrate the Queens Jubilee. We invited Cor Cariad Choir, Leo the Llamas and friends, Carmarthenshire Party Horses and hosted our very own street party. A great week was had by all the residents!
Farm and Beach Visit
The residents enjoyed a fun filled day and loved the animals. Pet therapy proves a huge hit with everyone. The beach day was a chance to soak up some sunshine and enjoy an icecream!
