"I arranged a routine RPR visit at the home - Home staff were very welcoming and assisting. I had the opportunity to talk with the deputy manager who sat down with me and made time to discuss my cases in great detail which was incredibly helpful. The deputy manager went above and beyond to support me on my visit. She’s incredibly passionate about both the residents and her role at Hafan-Y-Coed. Thank you."

"Since my mum arrived at Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home in July I have nothing but the highest praise for all the staff and manager. During what was a terribly challenging time for me as an only daughter. I was wrapped in a warm blanket called Hafan-Y-Coed. My mum was given a life no one thought possible and I was offered so much valuable advice and calued support. The professionalism of care staff and the fin and variety of activities never ceases to amaze me, thank you."

"Just have to applaud the whole staff at Hafan-Y-Coed for their wonderful and tender care of my mother. We are so reassured that she is being so well looked after, with genuine affection and love, often going the extra mile to please and comfort her. "Dad has been at Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home since late 2023. The staff and management we have found to always be approachable and take the very best care of our dad. His room is always clean and tidy and clothes are always presented well. The events team deserve a special mention. Dad may not always engage with their activities but they always go out of their way to ensure Mam enjoys her visits with Dad and she often joins in on their concerts. One of the events team staff's choir was a fantastic addition to their programme."

"After a long period in hospital, my husband's condition had deteriorated so much I was in despair. Since his move to Hafan-Y-Coed I can't believe the improvement. Lovely surroundings, good quality food, lots of stimulation from an amazing entertainment team. I feel part of a warm friendly family who give amazing care to my husband and cannot speak highly enough of the amazing staff for their compassion and care for each and every resident. I am so grateful to have found a vacancy at this lovely home."

"My mum had been a resident for 5 years. She passed on the 1st of May. The staff were amazing. They loved my mum like she was their mum. The love and respect they gave her was amazing. In the 24 hours leading up to losing her, they were so loving and compassionate. They couldn’t do enough for us. They didn’t just make my mum as comfortable as she could be but they made this awful experience a little easier for her family. I was a mess and the numbness was debilitating. The honour walk lineup they did for my mum as she was being taken away was the most amazing act of kindness, love, respect and compassion I have ever witnessed and something I will never forget. They weren’t just carers/nurses they were part of the family. They really did love her. I can’t thank the manager and the team enough, especially the ones who were by our side for the 28 hours. You know who you are, I will never forget that. Thank you so very much."

"I am overwhelmed by how wonderful Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home is. Such a family unit. My father has settled so well and absolutely loves the care and being spoilt by all the staff. I cannot wait to join in the activities with the very friendly and fun team. I cannot fault the care staff and everyone involved in caring for the residents, you can see how wonderful the staff are with all the residents and that makes the residents so happy."

"My husband has been at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home since November 2022. I have found nothing negative to write about the care he has been receiving. Everyone on the staff has been very caring and attentive to his needs and I could not wish for better care for him. The activities the home provide are excellent and would appeal to most of the residents. It is an extremely well-run care home and everyone is so friendly and supportive. I feel very comfortable that my husband is in their care and I can't thank you enough."

"I can only say that you are excellent, staff from the manager to all the other support staff, carers, cooks and nurses that help run Hafan-Y-Coed. I had always heard excellent reports from previous families who had stayed at the home. My father has recently arrived at Hafan-Y-Coed and I feel he has become part of the family, the events team are excellent with the interaction they have with everyone. Well done to all the staff."

"All staff go above and beyond in every way to make my mother in laws life normal, comfortable and enjoyable. The food is top quality and the cleanliness is very good. The care she receives is excellent. She is treated with dignity at all times and enjoys the activities, the activities are very good. Although the care home is very expensive, in my opinion, it is the best in the area and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone."

"My mother needed extra care, and we needed to place her in a care home. This was a very difficult and emotional decision to make. A place was available in Hafan y Coed. I am so happy we chose to accept it. The home is immaculate. Feels very homely. It was suggested I took some personal belongings for Mam's room before she arrived. It looked so welcoming and familiar on arrival. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are amazing, and we can actually see an improvement in Mam since she has been there. My son visited today and was absolutely delighted to see his gran doing so well. Diolch pawb!"

"Every time I visit, staff members are always positive, encouraging and extremely approachable. Health issues are always identified and communicated well with the family. The entertainment staff always find ways to get my bampa to engage despite being immobile. They make every effort to involve him and make him smile. He always has options when it comes to food and the nurses are always on top of his weight management. As a family, we love Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home."

"Having worked as a nurse in the past I have very high standards of care so I cannot fault any aspect of mum's care. All the staff treat her with care and dignity and more so with love. They aren't just doing a job, they treat all the residents like they are treating their own families. The activities programme is second to none and the fact they put it on social media, I look forward to seeing what they have been up to. All staff from housekeeping to maintenance are friendly and caring. Well done and thank you."

"Thank you for the very warm welcome my relative received when he began his stay at Hafan Y Coed Care Home. Deciding upon a care home was one of the hardest and most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. The staff treat residents (and visitors) with dignity and respect and endeavour to include everyone in activities regardless of their ability. They try and find the appropriate level of focus and adapt to suit individuals. The staff rotas are consistent so there is familiarity in each community. So important to ensure residents are fully supported and are provided with continuity of care, daily living support and an element of kind familiarity. They work tirelessly in a very often challenging environment. The nursing staff have been attentive and kept me informed when they have identified potential health issues. Management is visible, very approachable and innovative."

"In May Mum had a 2-week holiday at Hafan y Coed Care Home after coming out of the hospital. She lived a distance away from me, and due to my health issues, I couldn't meet her care needs in my home, so this was the only way I could visit her. She really enjoyed her visit, often thinking she was on a cruise! Returning home she had a further series of falls & it became clear she couldn't remain independently at home anymore. She had previously refused to leave her home, but this time she actually asked to go and live in the nice hotel! We arranged her move, and the team from Hafan even went down to Newport to collect mum. She has now been a full-time resident since May, and it feels as if she has known everyone there for years. The staff put residents at the centre of everything, you can drop in at any time, and there's always something going on. Best of all I know mum is safe and happy. Everyone is treated with understanding, dignity, compassion and love, Hafan y Coed really does put care into Care Home."

"I was upset that my dad had to go into a home because of his Dementia and falls. However, he has settled really well and I have no worries about his care at all. The staff are amazing, so caring and extremely hardworking. The activity team are always arranging different events and there is always something going on. "My partner has been in Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home for four months. Everyone has gone out of their way to make him feel at home. He says he particularly enjoys all his meals - he has even commented 'this hotel has excellent food!' This care home is very well run with dedicated staff. All the imaginative activities (both in and out the home) are extremely well organised with all residents participating. My partner's health has improved since being in Hafan-Y-Coed and he even has the opportunity of using his Welsh - something that is important for him. He's also enjoyed visiting the wetlands."

"My mum has been at Hafan-Y-Coed for nearly three years and I am very happy with her care. All the staff work extremely hard and are always upbeat and helpful. They are very considerate of my mum's needs. Even though they have had a very tough time through COVID, they have soldiered on and buoyed up the residents. The only points that they could improve on is updating the resident's rooms and being more inspiring with the daily food menu. On the whole, I believe my mum is being very well cared for at Hafan-Y-Coed."

"My mother has dementia and has now been at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home for over four years. I am very pleased how well she has settled there and how happy she is in her surroundings. The home is comfortable and the staff have been great and will go out of their way to see to her needs and to keep her happy. "My mother-in-law was a resident of Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home for three and a half years after it became impossible for her to live independently and when the family were no longer able to manage her complex nursing needs. Hafan-Y-Coed became her home, and she was cared for with love, and infinite patience over the years; the staff became not only her friends but ours as well. The nursing care was excellent, and the day-to-day care was fantastic. The activity team worked non-stop to entertain and engage the residents, and the building and grounds were clean and inviting. The food was good, and the kitchen staff were never too busy to provide her with her favourite egg sandwich at any awkward time of the day! Hafan-Y-Coed was a big part of our lives over that time, and we miss all the staff and residents who became our "extended family" for that time. Thank you so much for everything you did for her and for us."

"Both parents are residents at Hafan-Y-Coed. Mam has Vascular Dementia, and Dad has Parkinson's. Both are well cared for, and the activities team really involve my dad, and he loves it; they get Mam involved in activities also. The team treats them like family and couldn't ask for better care for them both."

"Mum lives alone a long way from us, so when she wanted to visit us, we booked her for 2-weeks of respite care at Hafan-Y-Coed as my own condition prevents me from being able to attend to her increasing care needs. Initially, she was a little reluctant, but she surprised us by thoroughly enjoying herself. She was made so welcome, loved the atmosphere, the activities, the interaction both with other residents and staff, the garden, the food, and she is still talking about a group of them going out for a pub meal! For myself, a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. After that first day, I had no worries about leaving her in the care of this lovely home. Everything about Hafan-Y-Coed is clearly run for the benefit, well being and happiness of the residents. Every member of staff knew who Mum was after that first day, and everyone treated her so gently, with humour, understanding and dedication, just as if she were one of their own. Mum said it was like a holiday with friends at a 5-star hotel!"

"Mam was put into Hafan-y-Coed for respite due to Dad being taken ill. I can not praise the help and support given to me by the staff and management from the minute mam arrived. I was totally taken by surprise by how much they did for me. It is a beautifully clean welcoming care home where every member of staff is happy to help you. There is a lot of activity there for residents, visiting and contact with a loved one is made very easy. Very well run care home I would highly recommend it."

"My aunty is at Hafan-Y- Coed in Llanelli and has been there for the last 3 years, since being there she has received nothing but the most excellent care she could have, she is always clean, always given loads of care and attention, and with so much covid cases in the area, the management and staff have been able to keep the covid to a very minimum at the home which is amazing! I'd like to thank the management and all the staff for all their love care and attention she has had over the years and continue to give, can't thank you enough, you truly go above and beyond and am so grateful for that. "My sister-in-law is in this home, for a long time now. She is bedridden and has never had a bedsore the whole time. She always looks so fresh clean and tidy, considering she can't do any of that herself. The care she gets is outstanding, the management and staff are truly wonderful, unlike some places, there is never any smells when you walk in there. Can't praise the staff and management enough. "My grandfather has been on one of the memory lane communities for a few months now, It was a very hard decision for us as a family, but we are so happy with the care he is receiving, it has been a difficult time with all the various restrictions in place, but the staff have been amazing keeping in contact with us, updating us on how grandad is doing and even helping us to video call him occasionally. When we were finally able to visit, seeing how happy he has put us at ease, all the staff were so welcoming and we could see they thought a lot about grandad. Thank you for all you do! We as a family are extremely grateful!"

"My grandmother recently came to the home for a weeks respite. After a week on the residential floor, she decided she enjoyed the experience of being around other elderly residents for company and the safety aspect of having the carers close to hand if needed. All the carers have been amazing and friendly and respected my Grandmothers dignity at all times. We hope my Gran can stay long term at Hafan Y coed as this is certainly the best place for her and her ongoing dementia concerns."

"I found that losing my husband to dementia a very traumatic time and then having to find a nursing home that would suit all of his needs almost was unbearable, and then there was Hafan-Y-Coed! What a lifesaver! All the staff are so caring and happy in their work, always so helpful; they can't do enough for you and our relatives. He has settled in quite quickly with everyone. I always feel so relaxed when I visit and come away not feeling anxious. Keep up the happy bibes you radiate."

"My dad was moved to Hafen-Y-Coed during covid 19 lockdown and the staff were so helpful and reassured us on my dads care. Since living in Pemberton Unit my dad has resumed walking after being immobile since Oct'19. The lady in the office has been so helpful and the nursing/caring staff on dads unit have been amazing. "Whatever you do do not put your loved one in here. I regret ever putting my loved one in here. Find a better place and do your research on it. It’s a shame I can’t put why but I have lost my trust in the staff here. Unfortunately, the manager left who would bend over backwards to help you. The new manager and the deputy manager really do not care. I’m going to fight all the way to get my loved one out of here. So please do not put your loved one here."

"Even though we are still in a pandemic, I cannot thank the team enough for the level of care they are providing to my mother. We are lucky enough to receive regular Facetime calls and updates which puts our mind at ease that Mum is doing well. The management team is priceless and is a credit to your company and their enthusiasm, love and passion is always wonderful to see and it reflects within the remainder of the team. We have loved receiving updates of all the activities the residents have enjoyed during this time and continue to do so. Until we meet again I know my mother is in safe hands and is being loved and cared for like I would wish. "My mother-in-law has been living at Hafan-Y-Coed for nearly 2-years now and has received such good care and love. We are so very impressed with the way the staff have rallied round to look after our relatives during these extremely difficult and unprecedented times. It was her 94th birthday on Saturday, and the staff made it a special day for her, at a time when no one from the family could visit. Not only that, but we received photographs of her with her birthday cake, (provided by Hafan-Y-Coed ), and arrangements were made for her to watch a video sent in by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. My mother-in-law is still finding it difficult to accept the fact that she will be unable to live independently again, and as a result, she can take out her frustrations in her attitude to the staff. In spite of this, the staff treat her with dignity, patience and love, and we appreciate this so much. So thank you, everybody, at Hafan-Y-Coed. Take care and keep safe!"

"Our mum moved to Hafan-y-Coed as her dementia had reached the stage where her current home was unable to give her the care and support she needed. Immediately on arriving in Hafan-y-Coed we could see a difference in her care. The love, attention and kindness all staff showed her was overwhelming. The staff to patient ratio was much higher. She had very challenging behaviour, but nothing was an issue for them. The staff gave us utmost respect when Mum died. They couldn't have been kinder or more helpful at a very painful time."

"My mother is a resident at Hafan-Y-Coed suffering from advanced dementia. In my experience, I cannot recommend HYC highly enough. My mother is well cared for and treated with respect and compassion by the hard working and caring staff. I have found HYC to always be friendly, approachable and quick to inform me of any issues my mother is experiencing. Having struggled to care for my mother for several years, it was extremely difficult to accept that I could no longer do this alone and that my mother would need to be placed in a home. Finding the right home was a major challenge, but fortunately, I was recommended to HYC which has proven to be a wise decision. My gratitude goes to all the staff looking after her."

"We have a great deal of experience visiting family and friends in care homes in the wider Llanelli area. We were greatly impressed by the ambience immediately apparent on entering the foyer of Hafan y Coed: more like a luxury hotel than a care home and head and shoulders above anywhere else in the locality. This impressive start was only amplified with our every contact with members of staff, whose manner and attention to detail exemplified a truly dedicated approach to their various tasks. The decor, layout and staffing of every area again was reminiscent of a fine hotel and the ready availability of refreshments for visitors added even further to an uplifting experience, so different from the depressing atmosphere often apparent in other establishments."

"The day my husband was admitted to Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home was a sad day. As my husband and I had been in the Christian Ministry for 50 years, on several occasions we had visited residents in Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home. The welcome we received was amazing, so warm and friendly. My husband is suffering from Parkinson's which is progressive. There have been many ups and downs. Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home staff have always been helpful and kind to us both. It will be two years since my husband was admitted and I can say most sincerely I thank God for Barchester Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home for taking care of my husband the way they have."

"A wonderful, caring team - respectful, kind, supportive and welcoming to family and residents alike. "My dad has been a resident here for just over a year and I am very happy with the care he receives. My dad was immobile, non-compliant with his medication and needed encouragement to eat and drink, after a lengthy stay in hospital he wasn't in very good health generally as well as suffering from dementia. The care, attention, respect and compassion the staff show to dad is very reassuring. I like the fact that dad is always wearing his own clothes (which wasn't always the case in a previous home) and he is always clean and tidy. My dad is also unable to verbally communicate with staff but they have made a massive effort to get to know him and can now read his facial expressions and dad is now mobile, eating well and takes his medication with little fuss most of the time. Seeing someone you love with dementia is devastating and the care my dad receives is brilliant and he is contented and happy the majority of the time and I know my dad is being well looked after. Thank you so much to all the staff."

"When it was decided that my father should go into a care home, we weren't happy as we had so many preconceived ideas about care homes. We couldn't have been more surprised. The staff were absolutely wonderful. They treated my father and we as a family as if they'd known us for decades. My father was at a difficult stage in his illness but the staff were so welcoming, kind and understanding, we were overwhelmed by them all. Sadly, he wasn't able to take advantage of the fantastic food and all the activities on offer but they deserve a special mention and shouldn't be underestimated. Thank you all, so very much. "I cannot sing the praises high enough for all the staff at Hafan Y Coed. They are all fantastic. My grandfather has been here for 6 months. Because of his dementia, he can sometimes be difficult but the carers are brilliant with him and have so much patience. They do such a hard job but are always smiling. "The genuine warm welcome we received at Hafan Y Coed when we came to look around for a placement for my father was second to none. We were offered coffee and shown around the home by the Deputy Manager. He spoke so enthusiastically about the home and all the residents he spoke to reacted warmly to him. There was a delay in dad coming into the home but the manager was fantastic at keeping the family updated. He has settled in so well and the care he is receiving at the home is fantastic. Everyone smiles and nothing is too much for them. We looked at so many homes in the area and nothing compares to Hafan Y Coed."

"Father-in-law has been here for approximately 6 weeks, has settled in well and the staff have been very good and welcoming. He has dementia which means he can sometimes be a little agitated. They attend to his needs, taking him into the lounge/dining room for interaction/food and are at hand when he needs personal care. Room is a good size with a toilet, we are able to personalise it with pictures and a TV to keep him occupied/stimulated. Staff are always cheerful, the home has activities/entertainment most Fridays, you are able to have tea/coffee and meals if you mention this and give them advanced warning."

My father was living at Hafan Y Coed for four years which in itself is testament to the standard of care he received in what became his home/ The staff are to be congratulated on the efforts they make to care for the residents in sometimes difficult conditions. We appreciate very much the kindness shown towards Dad - he was always shaved, washed and made as comfortable as possible. Sometimes it is the small things that matter the most. The care was outstanding, thank you.

Where to start, what words do you use to explain what your part in the latter part of her journey meant to us. To put your trust in a place and people to care for the most priceless thing you have in your life is very difficult but we can truly say that we had peace in our hearts and minds everytime we saw her or left her with you. Whenever she went to hospital they always commented on how clean and well her skin was and how good her appearance was, that is down to all of you. 

You are all in a special place in our hearts forever, to help us to have the time with her for so long was down to the love and care she had in Hafan-y-Coed. For us to be able to sleep at night knowing she was warm, safe, fed, and cared about is priceless.

We will remember you all with much affection.
