Activities at Elm Bank Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Coordinator

Tina Prosho

Activities Lead

Hello my name is Tina and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Elm Bank Care Home.

I joined Elm Bank in May 2023 as a Team Leader soon becoming the Head of Care before moving to the role of Activities Coordinator and leading the team in January 2024. My passion is to provide life enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents.

By providing entertainment that is not only stimulating but person-centred. Our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home on a regular basis.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Elm Bank that will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

"Making Amazing Happen"

When family members take the time to provide us with a compliment for the little things we do, the pride we feel is tremendous. Being in a position to make lasting memories is so very special. We'd like to thank the family for allowing us to share the attached photos and for Louise's compliment that stated;

"We as a family are so happy that Elm Bank were able to make this dream come true and gather our family together for this very special occasion, our father was so happy and proud to have his family around him, we didn’t doubt for a moment that Elm Bank wouldn’t make it special they went over and above what we expected, our father is very happy and settled in Elm Bank as you can see in these photographs. Thank you Elm Bank from all of us. The Elm Bank Team Make Amazing Happen".

Last year on learning that one of our residents would be with us on his Diamond Wedding Anniversary the Elm Bank team decided to throw the happy couple and visiting family a party!

Unfortunately, on the day his lovely wife; Lily couldn't be there in person due to illness so we placed a photo of her on display and sent her a beautiful bouquet to ensure she knew her husband was thinking of her on this special day.

Remembering that the whole family still needed the opportunity to get together, this year, on the same resident's 85th Birthday, we pulled out all the stops to ‘make amazing happen’.

Liaising directly with his daughter; Louise our home manager Katie and the team asked her to invite as many family members as she could to join him for a surprise party at the home on 24th June 2023.

The family ages ranged from age 3 – 85, with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and gorgeous wife Lily all in attendance.

The team decorated one of the private function rooms and the chef, alongside the home's hospitality team laid on a terrific spread including homemade celebration cake(s) so the whole family could gather and enjoy one another’s company to make even more precious memories.

Young Children Bring Joy

Our residents get so much joy from interacting with young children, last week a group of students from Hall Meadow Primary School came in for a little ‘Story Time’.

As young and old read together, chatted and created beautiful artworks the room was full of happiness. We all had such a wonderful time getting to know these lovely children.

Thank you for being so well behaved, gentle and kind, you brightened our residents’ day, we very much look forward to your next visit.
