Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Happy Halloween Everyone

Today we will be celebrating with Pumpkin painting, Monster mashing and a spooky cinema club this afternoon. We've played 'Wrap the Mummy' and all had a laugh with Skye and Barbara getting wrapped up by Pam! With the Halloween music, décor and staff dressing up, to mark the "spooktacular" occasion.

A Grand Day Out At Delapré

Barbara and Avis enjoyed a trip to The Orangery at Delapré Abbey as well as a tour of the Abbey itself. The duo had a splendid afternoon, and enjoyed a pot of tea and cake as a treat - they both enjoyed this photo opportunity, with Barbara saying her "halo might have slipped!". We're so pleased you enjoyed yourselves ladies, we look forward to the next adventure!

Autumn Evening Arts & Crafts

As the Autumn nights start drawing in, our residents were inspired to capture the seasonal change, and created this masterpiece which Barbara titled "Autumn Nights". We spoke about the changing colours of the sky and the trees, and that wonderful sound when your feet crunch fallen leaves on a crisp Autumn day.

Mick said he worries about the birds in Autumn; but thankfully ours were decorated with lovely, shiny feathers to protect them from the bitter cold! We love our new picture, which will be displayed on Daisy Lane for our visitors to see too.

Enjoying our Autumn Garden

Barbara, Pam, Avis (and Bella the cat!) enjoyed some crisp Autumn air in our garden, which recently won "Garden of the Year" at the Barchester Care Awards.

Pam said, "We are so lucky to have Andy, (the gardener), he spends so much time making this look lovely - and even makes sure the birds are fed! He does a wonderful job and definitely deserved gardener of the year." If you're visiting our care home, be sure to have a look at our wonderful garden before the Winter draws in.

Wine and Cheese Evening

Who doesn't love cheese and wine on a Friday night? We spent the most lovely evening with our residents, enjoying good company and a glass of wine whilst sampling a variety of cheeses. Eileen said "We must keep this in the diary as a regular event, it's so good to come together in the evening, I really enjoyed this".
