Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

At Cheverton Lodge, we hold a social event every week where residents can gather together to socialise. Recently, we had a cheese & wine tasting evening. Residents, friends and relatives tasted different types of cheese and washed them down with some delicious wine.

Nancy and Kathy had fun playing Emperor Nero with grapes.

Silver Sunday

Silver Sunday has become a National day in our Calendar. This is to remember and celebrate our older generation and their contribution to society.

We made sure our residents had a lovely afternoon with live entertainment and delicious cakes! Thank you to everyone who came along.

Peninim

Cheverton Lodge recently presented Peninim with a cheque for £750 to be used towards a retreat for women. Peninim supports physically disabled women and girls and those with life-long medical conditions through the provision of accessible programmes and services, designed to improve their lives and promote social integration within the wider community. They offer workshops, retreats, friendship groups and comparison ships and is working towards offering support work placements. The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community. The care home welcomed Leah Weingarten from Peninim to a small gathering in the home to receive the cheque and celebrate being awarded the grant. Leah Weingarten, Main Volunteer' said “We are so very grateful for the donation from Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, it went towards a retreat we held and was attended by 20 women. For many, it was the first time they had been able to leave their home since being in lockdown.” Earl Elliott General Manager at Cheverton Lodge said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. Charities like Peninim are so important to our local community and has enabled women to meet others, build friendships and enrich their lives.”
