Activities at Bryn Ivor Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Sophia Reed
Hi, I'm Sophia, the Activities Coordinator at Bryn Ivor Lodge. My top priority is making sure our residents feel happy and cosy in their homes. I'm a super crafty person and love coming up with new and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. When I'm not busy planning, you can usually spot me outside tending to the garden - especially when the sun is shining!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Gardening Club
Wow, today's Gardening Club session was a blast! We had planted radishes two weeks ago, and today was the big day to move them into larger pots. Our residents were so careful while transplanting the plants and the atmosphere was electric with lively conversations. We heard some amazing stories from the past and got some fantastic gardening tips from our green-thumbed residents! Keeping our residents engaged in fun and meaningful activities is our top priority, and it's a great way to promote their social well-being. Plus, it's so much fun!

It was a full house when a choir from Cwmbran called “Baroque Singers” visited Residents of Bryn Ivor Lodge. The choir performed several well-known festive tunes and afterwards spent time getting to know Bryn Ivor Residents and enjoying hot chocolate and mince pies. It was a special visit for one of our Residents, Patrick, who used to be a member of the choir. When asked about the performance Patrick stated it was ‘fantastic!” and was delighted to have his picture taken with his old choir colleagues.

With Christmas in full swings Residents of Bryn Ivor Lodge decided to pay visit to their local Primary School. Community Engagement is very important to us and we pride ourselves at keeping in touch with local community, schools and businesses so we were very happy when the Head teacher, Mrs Lewis was invited residents to return for more shows after New Year.

Commemorating Remembrance Day
Remembrance day and Remembrance Sunday in Bryn Ivor Lodge is being taken very seriously. Many of our Residents remember the events of II World War. On the 11th of November at 11am we held a service to commemorate all fallen soldiers during WW1, WW2 and all conflicts since. Our Residents gathered in Bistro area around a display made by Angela, one of our Residents, they read poems and held 2 minutes silence. On Remembrance Sunday we welcomed D-Day Dollies Duo who performed all war-time favourites, with many residents joining in a sing-a-long. Residents of Bryn Ivor Lodge were very content that such important occasion was commemorated by themselves and all staff.
