Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kingsthorpe Park School Children visit Residents

It is always a pleasure to have the lovely children from Kingsthorpe Park school visit the residents at the home. The teachers always bring a well structured hour with the children and this week was no different, from reading books together, looking at the images and discussing what the pictures are showing us, to songs with actions including incy wincy spider, twinkle twinkle little star and row row the boat. There was disco dough dancing and making shapes, counting the coins and working together to make the correct number which promotes the muscles in the residents hands to work through squeezing and moulding the shapes of the playdoh.

Then there was the big parachute which the children got super excited about, everyone all took part holding onto the parachute and singing whilst lifting it up and down, the residents enjoyed watching and helping the children.

The teachers keep the children so well focussed and work hard to ensure the activity runs smoothly and all the residents have a child to work with.

At Brampton View Care home we know that intergenerational activity is hugely beneficial to all involved as it encourages communication and social skills. Intergenerational contact also helps to develop language and reading confidence through shared activities, as well as increasing confidence and self-esteem. Lastly it helps children to develop empathy, care and kindness, helping them to understand and talk more positively about ageing and older people.

Happy Birthday to our Newest Resident

We celebrated another birthday yesterday with a beautiful cake made by our chef Glenn.

Barbara who is one of our newest resident’s had a lovely day celebrating with new friends and family visiting her at the home and received an abundance of lovely cards to open with messages of love and best wishes.

Barbara said “this is just lovely and I’ve had a good day for my young 19 years” which made us all laugh !

Birthday celebrations are important. It's an opportunity to gather with loved ones, share stories, and make memories. Your birthday is a chance for your friends and family to show their appreciation for you, and to celebrate the unique qualities that make you who you are. At Brampton view Care home we ensure every resident is able to feel extra special on their birthday.

Mental Health Awareness Week

This week we have been discussing mental health and well-being during activities, supporting each other and sharing how we all look after our own mental health.

Our activity of creating gratitude hearts allowed us to explore what we are grateful for. It was lovely to hear some gratitude’s that individuals spoke about and we were also privileged to have our resident ambassador Janet read out some poetry, some of which she had written herself.

Residents all agreed that the afternoon was very nice, we had some lovely chats and were also delighted to have our head chef Glenn join us at the craft table.

Trip to Blue Diamond Garden Centre

As part of mental health awareness week, we recognise the importance for our residents to get out and about in the local community and to connect with others.

So we have a lovely minibus trip out to the local garden centre where we had some retail therapy and browsing, finished off with a nice cup of tea and cake in the lovely café.

Our residents enjoyed browsing through the may different plants, boutique gifts, clothing and reading many of the wellbeing quotes we found throughout the centre. The staff were very welcoming and so very helpful, chatting to everyone and it was lovely to have out tea and cake served in china cups!

Barbara, one of our newest residents said "it was really lovely to get out and make new friends and get to spend time with the staff whilst browsing at the lovely items they had on display".

Louise, Home Services Advisors stated "its a real privilege to be able to take the residents out and about to the places we take from granted, seeing the delight in the residents faces just going into the minibus and arriving at the garden centre and having that community feeling is so important".

At Brampton View Care home we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.

Brampton View welcomed Northampton Town FC Community Trust

We had the pleasure of opening our doors to the senior leadership team from Northampton Town FC. Our dedicated hospitality team provided a light lunch with refreshments.

Earlier this year, Home Services Advisor Louise Ramage connected with Brandon Eldred, the Business Development Manager, to explore opportunities within the community. Brandon spoke passionately of the trust which was founded in 2001 which serves as the official charity of Northampton Town Football Club, making a significant impact on individuals' lives beyond the realm of football. The trust holds a diverse range of events throughout the year, including gala dinners, walking football sessions, disability football tournaments, and community days. These efforts not only promote physical activity but also encourage social inclusion and personal development.

For anyone interested in making a difference or participating in community activities, the Northampton Town FC Community Trust offers a fantastic opportunity to get involved. Together, we can help create a positive change in our community and beyond!
