Activities at Bere Grove Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hollie Wren

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I'm Hollie. I have worked in healthcare for six years taking on a variety of roles. I am so proud to be heading up the activity team and supporting our residents with a life-enriching programme of events. I am highly motivated and love sharing my creative and imaginative side with everyone. I truly believe age is just a number and there is nothing we cannot achieve if we work together.

I like to create a person-centred activity programme so each resident gets the opportunity to enjoy what they love. This is their time to relax, enjoy and have fun.

National Activities Providers Week

Last week was National Activities Providers & Professionals week. Our residents here at Bere Grove Care Home - Barchester Healthcare gathered to thank our Activity Co - Ordinator Hollie Wren and the team for the fun and laughter they bring to the home.

Here at Barchester Healthcare our whole home approach is unique. As well as the dedicated events and activities from here at Bere Grove, we take part in a whole host of events and activities provided by NAPA: bringing many meaningful moments to our residents and team

There's a Pony in the House!

Earlier this week we had a surprise visitor! His name is Noodles and he is a miniature Shetland pony brought to us by The Pony Pals Family

Bere Grove residents loved giving Noodles a walk through the home and in the garden,  Many also groomed noodles and brushed his wonderful mane

Equine assisted therapy is a physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual type of therapy which covers all areas animal therapy aims to achieve. During sessions, you don't actually ride the horse. Instead, you carry out tasks such as feeding, grooming and leading the horse.

Art Attack

We had a creative morning looking into Pablo Picassos wonderful artwork and the techniques/ genres of art he went through during his time as an artist.

Our ladies designed their own inspired Pablo Picasso artwork and just look at how talented our residents are here at Bere Grove!

Christmas Quiz

Residents families and members of our fabulous community joined residents and staff for our first Christmas Quiz.

It was a brilliant night and we have to acknowledge there are some very clever people in our local community.

Festive Cookies

Desserts are arguably one of the most important foods of the holiday season.  One of our preparations for Christmas was for our residents to make Christmas cookies.

Baking (and cooking) is an activity that takes your complete concentration – especially if it's basic and repetitive – and it may help you relax. The act of weighing ingredients, whisking eggs, and folding dough relieves stress and helps to reduce negative thoughts. Our residents are always up for creating new tasty treats!

The cookies were delicious
