Activities at Balclutha Court Care Home

At Balclutha Court our resident’s happiness is extremely important to us. We all know that a large part of this is keeping active and continuing to enjoy your interests and hobbies. At Balclutha Court, we have regular activities including arts and crafts, music, entertainment, trips to local attractions such as canal trips, safari parks and many more. Our activities team are always busy organising events, entertainment and excursions with the broadest possible appeal and many of our residents see living at Balclutha Court as an opportunity to develop a new skill or interest. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Karen is supported by Kay Millar and Anita Marsh, between them they ensure that residents are happy and have loads of fun.

They are very keen to involve the residents in the decision making within the home to enhance their experience. They take part in the residents' meetings, catering forums and assist the General Manager in interviewing new staff members.

Life at Balclutha Court Care Home

National Chocolate Milkshake Day

We got all shook up for national chocolate milkshake day this month. Residents at Balclutha had a great time making their own Chocolate shakes and an even better time drinking them.

Out for a jolly!

Residents enjoyed a wee trip on the bus followed by a pub lunch at our local Hungry horse. thank you so much to the awesome staff at Tail O' The Bank, Greenock who could not have done any more to make us feel welcome. we had a braw wee day.

Thank you Dominos!

Thank you to the totally awesome Chris and his amazing team at our local Domino's Greenock for your very generous gift of....yep you guessed it.....PIZZA! Between staff and residents we polished off every last tasty morsel and enjoyed every bite.

Wallace Collection

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.

A trip out

Thank you so much to Jonny and his awesome team at Morton in the Community for having us along to Cappielow Park for breakfast and a blether. We had a ball. We Met new people and reminisced about our memories of days gone and juking through the turnstile without paying. Brilliant morning was had by all, thanks again guys

Traditional Scottish sounds

Thank you so so much to the "Inverclyd pipes and drums" for coming along and making us all greet this week. That traditional Scottish sound always makes us emotional but even more so when our friend was reunited with his olds band mates and joined them in playing the drum. Emotions ran even higher when he got to double up and play the drums with his son for the first time ever. A fantastic afternoon was spend greeting ( happy tears), reminiscing, dancing, clapping and singing along. You guys were just amazing....thank you once more.
