Proms to be hosted on Highfield Care Home's 'wonderful grounds'

Barchester's Highfield Care Home will host a Proms and Picnic in the Park event this weekend, making use of the residence's "wonderful grounds".

Gates for the event are set to open at 15:00 BST, although performances are not due to begin until 16:00 BST, reports the Wetherby, Boston Spa & Tadcaster News, with music from Ebor Brass.

Speaking to the newspaper, Highfield Care Home activities coordinator Richard Sweeting said: "We have wonderful grounds here at Highfield and the surroundings will make a perfect setting for a Proms and Picnic in the Park.

"The idea is something which came into my head last year and I was really keen to look at making it an event not just for our residents."

A number of special activities and events have been hosted at Barchester care homes over the last few months.

At the beginning of June, residents at Arbour Court care home benefitted from a visit from the Mobile Mini Farm, reports the Stockport Times.

The care home's manager Helen Colaco told the newspaper that meeting the animals was of real benefit to patients, many of whom are bed bound.
