Activities at West Oak Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Staff at West Oak were absolutely thrilled to be able to take some of our residents to the garden centre again.

Everyone had such an amazing time wandering around looking at all of the beautiful flowers and garden features.

Henry Street Garden Centre has a small aquarium, so we took our residents through to have a look at the fish, and they absolutely loved it.

Euro 2021 Celebrations!

Residents and staff at West Oak have been cheering on their home sides throughout the Euros.  The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past three weeks.  Everyone at the home has been so excited that Gareth’s boys have been playing so well!

Fans of the beautiful game were delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures after the disappointment of last year’s tournament having to be postponed.  Residents and staff have been getting together to watch the matches and enjoying cold beers and nibbles.

Residents were both excited and very nervous for the final game England Vs Italy. Residents and staff were supporting England by wearing their England Shirts and cheering them on.

Sister Veronica's Home Visit

We were overjoyed to be able to escort Sister Veronica in their mini bus for a home visit this week.

Sister Veronica was all smiles on her journey, and so happy to be finally able to go out again in the mini bus. Sister Bernadette and Sister Teresa were both waiting for Sister Veronica with happiness and joy.

They all enjoyed afternoon tea, with a selection of cakes. It was lovely to see their smiles of happiness after such a long time.

Carers Week

West Oak carers received many thank you cards and chocolates in recognition of all their hard work and dedication for the care they provide. Our team were very proud to receive these gifts of appreciation for National Carers Week.

Live Entertainment

West Oak was overjoyed to finally be able to enjoy live music in the garden. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon with lots of singing, clapping and even a little chair dancing going on.

One of our regular entertainers, Gary Roman, sang our residents' favourite songs, including hits from Elvis, Cliff Richard, John Denver, plus many more.

Residents and staff had a fabulous afternoon.
