Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Lynette Allen

Activities lead and Speak up Champion

I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.

The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

At Barchester life enrichment is a major priority, our goal is to look after our communities mind body and SOUL. Laurence has popped into Ashburnham Place which is a Christian retreat center for our residents to take day trips to it's stunning grounds, we will be taking afternoon tea trips to their stunning Orangery tea rooms.

Call us to find out what else we get up to and please like our Facebook page to see what we are planning.

A Visit to our local Key workers

Laurence has been busy in the community, he visited the Eastbourne Patient Transport service to deliver some fresh cakes, to extend invites to our VIP sneak preview event and remind them that when we open any blue light card holders on shift can enjoy a coffee and slice of cake in our home! So as an act of appreciation once we are open, we are opening our doors to emergency personnel to unwind in one of our beautiful lounges or bistros with a hot coffee and daily made fresh cakes.
