Activities at Sutton Valence Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jacinta Wilson
The job description of Activities Coordinator fitted me perfectly and brought me out of retirement; I did miss the social aspect of working life... Enriching resident’s lives through art & crafts coupled with a vibrant caring nature is me to at T. I have a passion to give our residents access to their own self-esteem and confidence. Re-gain, explore or enhance their quality of Winter Life. Share the tools to make each moment the best it can be and if, it's, not then let's explore why? My team buddy laughs with me when I recall or mention Golden/Platinum moments I've been blessed with. I witness them every day. Finding a way to give purpose to a day is a mission of mine and I do my very best for our resident family to gain that.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Sutton Valence Care Home

Easter Celebrations
With Easter (new life) nearly upon us, Esther from Aroma Breath chose an invigorating mix of aroma oils, rosemary, sweet orange and chamomile room infusion to raise our spirits and relax our minds. Our topic was Spring, focusing on different calming breathing exercises.
Lorraine found the session very relaxing and calming. Keith embraced each breath we took.
Our tea tasting was a blend of rosemary, orange peel, chamomile and peach. Phyllis approved of the tea this session.

A spontaneous moment
The sun is shining; describe a perfect spring moment...reminiscent of the past or of the future?
The response was...a lovely G&T in a pub came the reply from Deidre and Rene.
We can squeeze that into our busy day and why not?

Gardening Season!
Residents and staff have been getting ready for a wonderful gardening season! They’re starting by planting flower and vegetable seeds in the new greenhouse, which will later be transferred to raised flower beds. This is a fantastic way to get a head start on the growing season and create a vibrant garden.
It’s not just about the plants, but gardening also brings people together and makes the summer even more enjoyable.

Gardening in the Sunshine
Lorraine was totally in her element. The sun was shining and a little bit of gardening followed by a well-deserved cup of tea, made just the way she likes it.
“I am a very keen gardener and did a lot of gardening with my husband” was the conversation which led to our time in the home garden.

Flower Arranging
Gemma and Millie from Arrangements of Boughton Monchelsea store kindly donated a few flowers for our family residents to arrange and that’s exactly what they did.
The decision was to make small posies to give to our hard working staff as a small token of their thanks for everything they do.
Thank you Gemma and Millie for your kindness.

Beauty Treatments
Our event, hosted by Kat from Tropic Skin Care and Beauty, was certainly a hit with our residents and staff.
Keith particularly enjoyed his hand massage, saying "Oh, that's lovely!"
Kat will be visiting us again. Would family members and friends prefer an event at the weekend?
