Activities at Ross Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Ross Court Care Home

Italian Evening

Residents were delighted with their Italian-themed dining evening on Monday 10th August.

The Head Chef and hosting team prepared and served a beautiful three-course meal which included all things Italian. Residents sipped wine while listening to Italian bistro style music.

The dining room was decorated with flags, bunting and tableware to match. It was a wonderful atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. The only hard part of the evening was making a choice between the mouth watering options on the menu.

Next week, at the residents' monthly meeting, we will choose what dining experience we will have next, though Chinese has been mentioned a few times already!

Movie Afternoon

Residents have enjoyed an afternoon at the movies. Tickets were handed out as they chose their seats and waited for the movie to begin.

Residents then used their tickets to claim their complimentary snacks, which were brought around by our charming usherette. There was a choice of drinks, muffins, sweets and of course, peanuts and popcorn! Thankfully there wasn’t any throwing of popcorn or too much talking during the feature.

Residents commented on how they remember going to the movies and the usherettes coming around at the interval with the snacks and a torch to light the way. Thankfully it was such a glorious day that no torch was needed!

,

Spanish Afternoon

Residents of Ross Court rounded off the week with a 'Spanish Afternoon'. This was kicked off with a selection of Spanish wines to taste, Ttapas to eat and Spanish music to listen to. Residents listened to some interesting facts about Spain and then attempted a quiz.

Residents have suggested that our next 'Round the World' experience should be Italy, so We will be asking our Head Chef for a selection of pasta and pizza dishes!

Project Peacock

Residents of Ross Court have been working on this project for several weeks. It was wonderful to see all of our hard work come together and be proudly displayed in the window of our dining room.

Residents who attend the art and craft sessions have enjoyed seeing and comparing the many different styles of painting and designs that could be used on one feather template.

We are now discussing options for our next group project and will decide next week.

Flower Arranging

On Tuesday14th June, residents of Ross Court sat with the activities team for a session of flower arranging. They had their choice of vases in all different sizes and a bountiful array of fresh flowers to choose from. The ladies skillfully cut the flowers to size and arranged them creatively for each of our rooms. The dining room and communal areas smell beautiful. They thoroughly enjoyed the session and we are planning to make it a regular event.

,

National Chocolate Day

National Chocolate Day on the 7th July; we started the day by decorating chocolate cakes supplied by our talented chefs. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed a wide range of chocolate kindly donated by Morrison’s Ross-on-Wye accompanied by a reading on the history of chocolate and rounded off with a chocolate quiz!
