Activities at Rose Water Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Georgia Williams

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Georgia and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Water Place.

I have done various roles in the care industry from being a carer, to activities, to administrator.  I have enjoyed every role but I feel activities is my calling.  I love making our residents smile and enjoy spending time with them and listening to every life story and ambition.

During Covid, I won a regional and national award for activities and had the opportunity to have afternoon tea in the House of Lords.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Valentine's Day

There was lots of love in the home as we celebrated Valentine's Day. Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by enjoying pre-lunch drinks served to them whilst listening to the magnificent Charlie the Saxophonist and a fun afternoon of Valentine’s bingo. Each of the residents were also given a gift bag full of heart-shaped chocolate and sweets.

Residents Dream Come True

On Saturday a couple of our residents were taken to The Den to watch the Millwall vs West Brom. game. This was brought about as one of our gents has supported Millwall from around the age of 13 years old and used to visit The Den with his brother and uncles on a regular basis up until the age of 18 when he had to go into national service and was sent to Germany. His dream was to visit The Den again and have a nice cold pint in the local like he used to. However, he did say that he would have to hide his scarf until he got there as Millwall are known to be not the most likeable team.

Baking Masterclass

Our residents were treated to a baking masterclass by our own Head Chef, Suraj. Suraj showed them his technique on how to make cheese scones and the residents chatted about what they used to bake at home with their families. They didn't say no to a glass of wine either! Once the cheese scones had been baked they didn't last long! They were absolutely delicious! Light and fluffy in texture.

Life Art Birthday Wish

One of our lovely residents has recently celebrated her 90th Birthday. Pat is a wonderful artist and her birthday wish was to have a life art drawing session. How could we refuse....

Singing for the Brain

Yesterday we were joined by the talented Hollie Firmin for our first Singing for the Brain session. Music and singing are effective methods for reducing anxiety levels in older adults, and are generally beneficial to their health, well-being and quality of life, along with bringing people together.

An afternoon of baking

We thought we would bake some tasty treats. We baked cheese and ham swirls for a savory option and chocolate twists as a sweet option. None of them went to waste!
