It is important to me that I seek to ensure all residents are able to live their lives to the fullest, whilst also making sure their daily living care needs are supported and maintained.

Andrew Whitmarsh

Head of Towy Community

Hi my name is Andy and I’ve been a nurse for 8 years, 7 of those years I’ve been here at Plas Y Dderwen. During my time here I have worked on the different units of the home and I feel that gives me a varied approach when it comes to our residents and their needs. I am now Head of unit for our Towy community.

Lewis Slaven

Residential Community Manager

I am the Residential Unit Manager for our Towy community here at Plas-Y-Dderwen. I started as a Carer here and, over the years, I have worked my way up to my current role.

I like to feel that I use my experiences throughout my time here to have a greater understanding of the residents, their loved ones and the carers I work with.

My job requires me to be responsible for the well-being of any residential residents we have here on our Towy community, whilst also enforcing policies and mentoring the staff to their highest potential.

Christine Harris

RGN Nurse

I moved to Wales in September 2022 and joined Plas y Dderwen in October 2022. Working with different units was something I wasn’t familiar with but the staff were supportive. I have been nursing for about 46 years and the last 20 years have been working with residents living with Dementia. I work within the advanced Dementia community and I really enjoy working here in Plas y Dderwen, the staff are friendly and are always happy to help.

Tayo Mogaji

Nurse

Hi my name is Tayo and I have been a Registered General Nurse for 6 years. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in Nigeria. I found employment with Plas y Dderwen as a pre-registered nurse and I qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in the UK in 2023. I have worked at Plas y Dderwen for a year now, providing empathetic, therapeutic care to the residential and nursing residents whilst developing a good interpersonal relationship with residents and staff. Working on the different communities within Plas y Dderwen has broadened my knowledge and experience in care for the residents individually, whilst attending to their nursing needs. The company itself is keen on knowledge development and I benefit from the webinars and clinical training which will continue to improve the quality of care I provide.

Sally Wootton

RMN Nurse

I am a nurse who came to work at Plas Y Dderwen eleven years ago. I had previously worked for the NHS for 30+ years as a psychiatric nurse. I work nights on Teifi unit and love my job. I have met the most amazing people during my time here and consider it a privilege to care for people living their journey through dementia and its challenges. The staff I work with are well trained and experienced in delivering a high standard of individualised care. The home is a friendly comfortable environment with plenty of trips and activities going on. The management are very supportive of all the staff and their various needs. Training is ongoing constantly. I particularly enjoy the autonomy and responsibility of managing the unit on nights.
