Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:
Hi, my name is Kath, I am the General manager here at Plas-Y-Dderwen. Welcome to our website!
I started working for Barchester Healthcare in 2017 as an RGN, and became a senior nurse in 2018. I was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2019.
Before coming to Barchester, I was a district nurse for 12 Years and, prior to that, I was a Surgical nurse.
My name is Nuala, I have worked as a nurse for over 20 years and I have worked in all areas of mental health nursing. In respect to my current employment I am unit nurse manager for our Dementia community. I am deeply passionate in improving holistic care for our residents suffering with Dementia. My Ethos is to promote individuality and independents where possible for our residents.
I am the Residential Unit Manager for our Towy community here at Plas-Y-Dderwen. I started as a Carer here and, over the years, I have worked my way up to my current role.
I like to feel that I use my experiences throughout my time here to have a greater understanding of the residents, their loved ones and the carers I work with.
My job requires me to be responsible for the well-being of any residential residents we have here on our Towy community, whilst also enforcing policies and mentoring the staff to their highest potential.
Hi my name is Andy and I’ve been a nurse for 8 years, 7 of those years I’ve been here at Plas Y Dderwen. During my time here I have worked on the different units of the home and I feel that gives me a varied approach when it comes to our residents and their needs. I am now Head of unit for our Towy community.
Hi, my name is Phillippa, and I am the Administrator here at Plas-Y-Dderwen.
My name is Lorraine and I have worked as Activities Coordinator for a year now at Plas Y Dderwen in Carmarthen. I have always worked with people and I use the skills I have picked up over this time to bring smiles and happiness to everyone. I thoroughly enjoy my role and not one day is ever the same. I work with a fantastic team of people we are like one big happy home staff and residents together.
Hefin has worked at Plas-Y-Dderwen since 2012 and ensures that residents get a good choice of food, which is always cooked to a high standard and is nutritious.
Through my time working with vulnerable adults, first as a Carer and now as an Activities Coordinator, I have always tried to bring a part of my joy for life and a sense of fun to those around me.
Since becoming the Activities Coordinator here at Plas-Y-Dderwen, I am now able to devote all my efforts to creating a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events for our residents, both inside and outside of the home.
I pride myself on trying to work with each new resident to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an activities plan focused on each resident as an individual, but also to create an atmosphere for group activities.
Hi my name is Salv, I have worked for Plas Y Dderwen as head of maintenance for a number of years now and my main role is to oversee the department to make sure the home and its contents continue to function as they need to.
Hi my name is Kerry and I am the head of housekeeping here at Plas Y Dderwen, I have worked for Barchester for nine years and my role is to ensure the home is cleaned to a high standard, and to support my team and the residents that live with us.
Jill the Cat!
This is Jill, the home's pet cat. Jill is key in making Plas-Y-Dderwen a real home from home for those we support. She can regularly be found lazing at someones' feet or in their lap! Jill will soon appear in her very own calendar and is looking forward to the fame this will bring her in the local community!
