Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lindum House Care Home

Meeting the Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.  We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Christmas Cake Making

Our Residents have reminisced about making and decorating their Families Christmas Cakes whilst making and decorating the Home's Christmas Cake.

Discussion went on to the thickness of marzipan to icing ratio, and even what flavour of jam to use.

Lots of care was taken when mixing to make sure the flour was properly stirred in - everyone got to stir it - a proper Lindum team effort.

Home welcome intergenerational link

Lindum House care home, in Beverley have recently hosted an intergenerational playgroup for residents and members of the local community. The event, which takes place weekly welcomed Safe and Sound Nursery children and staff to enjoy music, games and activities with residents at the home.

On their most recent visit to the home the children enjoyed helping residents of Lindum House create Christmas decorations and get their home ready for the festive season.

Visit to Coletta and Tyson Garden Centre

Our residents enjoyed a visit to our local garden centre, Coletta and Tyson, to visit the Christmas displays. They really enjoyed seeing all the decorations and lights and really got into the Christmas spirit - so much so that we started to get our own Christmas decorations out of storage when we got back home!

A Virtual Reality

Recreo VR allowed our home to trial a virtual reality head set for a month to see how our residents like it and it's fair to say they don't just like it they LOVE it! Our residents had a choice of destinations from around the world near and far to choose from and explore the scenery. It was a welcome journey from everyone who tried it, even if it was virtual.

Meet the Chef!

Our home has started a new monthly activity to bring all of our residents together for our 'Meet the Chef'. Neil our head chef will put on an a session each month where he will demonstrate cooking a dish and our residents can follow along - this month it was a taste of Italy - pizza! Our residents loved getting involved and creating their own pizzas. Our residents are looking forward to future sessions.
