Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

'Tis the season to be jolly

The home was filled with Christmas spirit and joy, as the residents and children from St Nicks Cubs, beavers and scouts enjoyed singing all the old favourite Christmas carols and songs together.  Residents enjoyed receiving cards from the children after the carols had finished & Children enjoyed the Hot chocolate, cookie and intergenerational conversations that followed the gifting of their cards.

Peter Johnson, resident said: “It has been a lovely evening. It was wonderful to see the children go to so much effort to get into the Christmas spirit. I really enjoyed listening to them sing and meeting a few of them after.”

Deck the halls with holly with trip to the Minster

Staff and residents have been decking the halls, getting out the tinsel and unravelling the fairy lights, ready for a whole host of Christmas celebrations.

Residents and staff have been busy digging out the Christmas tree decorations and colour coding them, to decorate their tree at the Beverley Minster Christmas tree Festival. Following on from decorating the Beverley Minster tree, Lindum Hose Activities staff & Residents took a trip to admire the festivals full glory.

A Christmas Carol with the Old Vic

Across our homes we’ve had the most wonderful time celebrating the festive season with a special screening of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.

This beautifully staged production brought the magic of Dickens’ classic tale right into our homes. A huge thank you to The Old Vic theatre for sharing this incredible performance with us. It was a truly wonderful experience.

Pet therapy with Noodles

We at Lindum House, Beverley, would like to thank Paws4Minds for a wonderful visit today. Noodle was in such a chilled out mood, he managed to get round everyone for fuss and attention, for that much needed animal therapy.

He always brings so many memories back for our residents of pets loved & lost, renaissance chats followed!

A splash of colour

Residents from Lindum often get together to enjoy their regular art and craft sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art. Residents have been busy showing their own style of colourful designs.

This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.   Residents enjoy the colouring and crafting as find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes a positive mental well-being.

Bingo Bonanza

This week saw us join our sister homes across the country in playing Barchester's Bingo Bonanza.

We even had our first 'Line' win by resident Jean.  So lets< congratulate Jean on getting us on the 'Barchester goes gaming' points ladder!

We love our games sessions here at Lindum and there is always a little friendly competition when we do!
