Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.

Emily Stubbs
I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lanercost House Care Home

Love is in the air!
We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special afternoon tea. There were lots of lovely treats, music and chatter. We had a lovely afternoon with lots of happy faces. One resident, Tommy, got a rose for his wife Sheila, who is also a resident, and they enjoyed each other’s company for the afternoon.
This morning, our memory lane community enjoyed a Valentine's breakfast of heart-shaped pancakes, fresh fruit and heart-shaped marshmallows.

Arts Class!
Today we did something a little different.
We had Shaz, our volunteer, here to show us how to make a trinket dish with modelling clay. We all had a go at making our own, and we were very impressed with the finished products.

Minibus Adventure!
Our Memory Lane community decided to take a trip to Bowness on Solway for breakfast with a view! And what a view it was. They enjoyed croissants, pancakes, tea and coffee.
We talked about times we went to the sea when we were younger and just took in the scenery.
Definitely a favourite kind of trip!

International Flower Day
Today we celebrated by doing some flower arranging with some beautiful flowers.
We got very creative and made some lovely arrangements to put around the home or in our bedrooms.
We had a chat about the different flowers and what we used to like in our homes.

Trip to the cinema
This afternoon we took a trip to Rheged to go and watch the film Maria.
Maria Callas, the world's greatest opera singer, lives the last days of her life in1970s Paris, as she confronts her identity and life.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed it and had a wonderful afternoon.

Parent and Toddler Group
The residents love to see children playing and running around. What better way than to invite them into our home for our parent and toddler group.
The group is for any parent to bring their child/children to come and play and see our residents enjoy intergenerational interaction.
