Activities at Cossins House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Cossins House Care Home

St Matthews School Nativity

Students from St Matthews School visited Cossins House to perform the songs from their recent Nativity. It was an absolute pleasure to have the students join us here and celebrate this festive period of 2023. The students all sang and performed different actions which we were able to copy and ended by singing some Christmas Carols for us all to sing along too. We look forward to spending more time with our local school communities.

Our lovely ladies, smiled with happiness, sang to all the songs and took to the dance floor. Each enjoyed a wonderful meal and a glass or two of wine. Resident Anne said ‘This is just wonderful, I have had such a great time and its just what I needed.’ Pat said ‘I haven t done anything this good in such a long time.

Residents at Cossins House were delighted to talk with Martin Stew from ITV news about company of dogs with Pet Therapy. Martin Stew visited our care home with his camera crew to see how our residents felt about having pets. Our resident Pat said ‘I always knew I would be  a star one day’. It was a pleasure for our residents to watch the news together and see themselves on TV.

Cassie

Spending time with Cassie means the world to our residents. Remembering our own dogs from home and still being able to enjoy these lovely pets is amazing. Cassie comes to visit us every Tuesday with her owner Rosie. Cassie likes to show us tricks by rolling over, giving her paw and giving us company. We love to walk around the garden with her and spend time chatting to Rosie.

Wildlife

Our residents love to wake up in the morning and look out at our beautiful garden to enjoy nature and overlook our wonderful garden. Each day we have a visit from the deer who enjoy running through our grounds amongst other wonderful wildlife. We see many of squirrels, a lovely woodpecker, pheasant and rabbits. Wildlife is a favourite of ours and we love to keep an eye on the different animals we can see daily.

Christmas Preparations

Residents at Cossins have started preparing for Christmas 2023 with handmade crafts. We have been making wreaths from pipe cleaners to put on our tree. Our residents love to be hands on and make things so we have begun a weekly Christmas Craft Club.
