Activities at Cossins House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Activities Coordinator
I have been working in care since the age of 16, when leaving school. Over the years, I have been a senior care assistant, administrator, home trainer and activities coordinator. I really enjoy working with the elderly residents.
Celebrating life at Cossins House Care Home
Pancake Day
Shrove Tuesday was a wonderful treat in our care home, with residents enjoying a feast of delicious, freshly made pancakes. The table was filled with tempting toppings, from sweet syrup and chocolate spread to fresh fruit and cream.
Laughter and smiles filled the room as residents shared their favourites, making it truly joyful and a tasty celebration.
Winter Warmers Knitting Club
During the winter months we begin our knitting club. Our residents enjoy making baby hats and blankets to donate to our local hospitals. Producing Winter Warmers and sharing our creative skills.
It is a pleasure for us all to be able to share our talents and create warm clothing and blankets for all the newborns in our area.
Christmas Party
Our dear residents, relatives and friends joined us for our 2025 Christmas Party. We had a delicious buffet with the tastiest nibbles and curry. Families all enjoyed taking part in our big Christmas Quiz followed by a wonderful afternoon of music by Jane Beaumont.
Everyone got up on the dance floor and showed off their dance moves. Our Choir sang together many carols and made so many memories with their loved ones.
The Jingle Bell Singers
Wow! A fantastic start to Christmas with The Jingle Bells singers performing from the Rah Rah Theatre Company. Delicious Minced Pies and Mulled Wine followed by our 2025 Christmas Light Switch on.
Residents sang along to some old time favourite Carols and feeling festive. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
Remembrance Sunday
Our local vicar popped in to say a prayer and hold a Holy Communion Service for all our soldiers who fought for our country and had a two-minute silence with our residents.
We all came together to remember all those lost and loved and shared some treasured memories over a glass of Sherry. Wearing our Poppies with Pride and listening to some beautiful poems in their memory.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day was filled with warmth and joy as our lovely residents were celebrated. Staff shared the love by presenting a beautiful red rose and a box of chocolates, a simple gesture that brought such delight. The day was truly special and full of affection.
Celebrating our January Birthdays
Our residents Pat, Ruth and General Manager Rose were delighted to celebrate their birthdays with the team at Cossins House. Delicious cakes and musical afternoons with buffet suppers.
Each making memories and sharing personal stories with others.
Christmas Bake Off
The talents came out to shine as our residents helped our Chef to create the most wonderful Christmas Cake.
Making a sponge base and adding Kit Kats around the edge to make the trunk, then by building up cupcakes into the shape of a tree.
We enjoyed decorating the tree with icing, cherries and sparkles.
Tina's Cocktail Party
Our wonderful Care Assistant, Tina, organised a Cocktail Party for our residents. Different flavoured gins, prosecco, wines and piña coladas served with cheese and biscuits.
Resident Shirley said, ‘It's just like being in the pub again.’
Tina served the drinks with fruit and played some music to enhance the Cocktail Party. Our residents had a wonderful afternoon and said they would love to do this more often and enhance it with a Family Quiz.
Josielyn’s Bingo Club
Senior Care Assistant Josielyn has set up her own Bingo Club. We had a full house and dabbers were out. Residents had a wonderful afternoon of Bingo and won many prizes. Pt said ‘ That was great fun, it was great to win some prizes.’
Ruth said ‘I can’t believe I won, I don’t often win, but today I did.’
Baking club
The Weekly baking club at Cossins House is a cherished highlight, filling the kitchen with the warm aroma of freshly baked cookies and laughter. Residents gather around the table, sharing stories, memories, and plenty of smiles as they mix, stir, and taste.
The simple joy of creating something together brings a sense of purpose and connection, while the delicious cookies are enjoyed with pride during afternoon tea.

ASEZ WAO Volunteers
World Mission Society, Church of God, Young Adult Worker, Volunteer Group.
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of fun, laughter, music, singing and games with our wonderful volunteers.
Residents were rewarded with gifts after a game of Bingo and each given a necklace of sweets.
Retail therapy at Christmas
A great afternoon out at Chessington Garden Centre for some Christmas retail therapy. Our residents were delighted to have a look at all the beautiful Christmas decorations and buy some goodies for their relatives.
We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in the café and searched for all the Christmas Lights on our way home.
Fruit tasting session
Everyone at Cossins House really enjoyed a fruit tasting session with our Deputy Manager Marita. Tasting exotic flavours. Marita filled her basket with all different fruits and juices of all different colours.
Some were delicious and some not so nice to taste. Our residents are very fond of fruit and really enjoyed themselves. We have recognised each individual's favourite fruits to deliver daily.
Pumpkin carving
Our residents had a wonderful morning carving away pumpkins to decorate our front doorstep. Digging out those seeds and getting creative is something we all enjoy at Cossins House. Harvest time is special to us, and we like to share our creative skills with others.
We gathered together our own crops to brighten up our home and celebrate Autumn.
