Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Heather Gooch

Activities Coordinator

My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.

I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.

In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Life at Chacombe Park Care Home

An Honourary Team Member

Resident, Sue, loves to help out with various tasks around the home and with running activities, so we made sure that she was recognised for this by honouring her with a pink polo top to match the activities team and a box of chocolates to thank her for all her help which she was overjoyed about.

Dining Out

We headed to The Falcon at Warmington and dined in their garden on a glorious summers day. The residents had a marvelous afternoon, reminiscing about their favourite restaurants and cuisines to enjoy and enjoying the atmosphere of dining at a restaurant, enjoying simply delicious food. The restaurant has wonderful views over the countryside which we admired whilst tucking into our food.

Exploring Local History

We spent the afternoon at Broughton Castle. It is a moated and fortified manor house and is home to the 21st century Lord & Lady Saye and Sele. Residents enjoyed learning about the history of the building, its wonderful garden, spectacular views of the countryside and enjoyed delicious ice cream, cake and tea in the tea room.

Picnic by the Riverside

We headed out early to enjoy a peaceful walk along the riverside, enjoying our morning coffee in the tranquility of nature, and later tucked into our delicious picnic on the riverside.

Residents enjoyed being in the hustle and bustle of a thriving town and being by the riverside enjoying the wonderful sereneness and quietness that it brought, learning about the spectacular buildings and the history acquainted with Stratford upon Avon.

Classic Car Meet

We organised an evening minibus trip for our car enthusiast to our local classic car meet. Residents had a great evening looking around and seeing new classics they hadn't seen before.

Live Garden Entertainent

We have welcomed back live entertainment into the garden and had a wonderful afternoon with Bill James. Residents enjoyed the music from the garden, balconies or from indoors with a refreshing ice cream and cups of tea whilst listening to the sounds of familiar songs being played. Residents soon got back into the swing of things, dancing the afternoon away.
