Free app for people with multiple sclerosis

The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) has launched a free mobile phone app, which may help people with the condition or those caring for them.

The app, which can be used on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, allows people to input and store multiple medical records, contact information of their healthcare team, descriptions of the condition and information on side-effects.

As multiple sclerosis changes constantly as it progresses, the tool is intended to help carers and patients keep track of the disease.

"My MS Manager provides a one-stop shop for an individual to not only monitor their MS, but also has the capability to include overall health information," said MSAA president and chief executive officer Douglas G Franklin.

"It is exciting for MSAA to be utilizing this new technology allowing us to help more people in more places."

The news comes after a fund was launched in New Brunswick, Canada, to help multiple sclerosis patients seek medical services outside the area.
