Artists 'should submit work for Alzheimer's 2012 calendar'

Budding artists with Alzheimer's and their friends and family are invited to submit their work for the Alzheimer's Society's 2012 calendar.

Carers, enthusiastic supporters and those living with dementia are invited to contact the charity if they think they could contribute to the calendar.

With no set theme, artists can allow their imaginations to run wild with scenic landscapes, portrait or even abstract pieces.

Participants should submit their artwork electronically as a Jped or Gif to Michelle.Aimers@alzheimer's.org.uk by January 28th 2011 and will known by March whether their piece has been chosen for the final calendar.

Meanwhile, the 2011 calendar is available to buy for £10.20 from the charity's website, with each featured piece said to highlight the role creativity plays in people's lives.

This comes after news that documentary "Filling the Blank", created by CNN in the US, is to screen the plight of an extended family with an incredibly high cluster of familial Alzheimer's disease.
