Our staff are what hold the home together. Each one of these team members are dedicated to providing high quality care and services to those we support, and ensuring that residents enjoy all aspects of life at our home. See below to meet some of our friendly faces:

Aime Bown

General Manager

Hi, my name is Aime and I am the General Manager at Tyspane.

I have lived and worked in beautiful North Devon all my life.  I live with my husband and children, grandmother and our beloved dog, Poppy.  We enjoy family time with BBQs and country walks, holidays, and travel.

I love being the manager at Tyspane as I am able to share my knowledge and background in mental health to help others care for our residents.  Previous roles include Deputy Ward Manager for the NHS.

I believe that promoting opportunities and social inclusion for all the residents and their families will help them to make the most of their lives by accessing the activities, roles and relationships they value the most.

Wanita Munemo

Deputy Manager

Hi, my name is Wanita and I am the Deputy Manager here at Tyspane Care Home. I am a bubbly and fun-loving person who is always smiling. I am here to support everyone in our team to ensure the highest quality of person-centred care is provided to our residents.

I am also a highly motivated nurse who has a special interest in Dementia and elderly care and appreciates the importance of developing a dementia-friendly care services environment.

In the past 6 years, I have developed strong leadership and management skills as a nurse. I love being part of the team here at Tyspane Care Home and I look forward to forming lasting professional relationships with my colleagues, residents and their families.

Administrator

Helen is responsible for all administration and financial aspects relating to the running of the home. She has been with the company for some time now and has provided much-appreciated continuity. She is the heart of the home and has a difficult job that she does well.

I moved over from Australia and decided on a career change from being a Wholesale Plant Nursery Hand. I was employed as a General Assistant then Hostess and was then offered a job in the admin department. 

I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people. I believe having a smile on your face brings joy to many. I am always willing to assist anybody. If I can do one thing a day to make a resident’s life better, then I feel rewarded.

I enjoy working in the admin department at Tyspane because the role is very challenging, but also rewarding. I have been working at Tyspane since 2011. I am busy all day with phone calls, residents, family visiting and other staff. I enjoy being able to assist everybody and it gives me great satisfaction.

I love living in North Devon near the beach, Exmoor and the rivers and estuaries. 

Over the past 20 years, my profession has taken me from fish and & chips on a Friday evening in a pub, to branded chain restaurants, to patisseries and cafes, to working overseas, and to AA Rosette and Michelin Starred restaurants.

I love to work with fresh produce from the sea to the orchard and hope to give the residents here a fantastic food experience at every meal.

Second Chef

Henry has more than 20 years’ experience in the catering industry, cooking and managing kitchens to a high standard. Previous roles have included Hotel Head Chef, and positions in boutique & fine dining restaurants.

Patricia Swann

Head Housekeeper

Trish is responsible for the housekeeping and laundry team in Tyspane Care Home. She ensures the home meets a high standard of cleanliness and works closely with staff, residents and relatives. She works with her team to ensure that the home is clean and inviting.

Karin Burgess

Senior Carer

Hi, my name is Karin and I am a Senior Carer here at Tyspane. 

Babs Spear

Physio Assistant

Babs was previously the Head of Activities & Physiotherapy here at Tyspane, but now works only as the Physio Assistant.

Her main interests are keeping fit and she spends a lot of her spare time as a fitness instructor, holding various classes around the local community.

In 2016, she was awarded the 'Devon Best Practice Award' for her flexicise class. She owns our three 'paper dogs' – her three Maltese – who deliver papers with her in the morning.

She is band 4 in physio and really tries to make residents' days fun; she very much believes in the 'if you don’t use it, you lose it' mentality, so she always encourages residents to participate, regardless of mobility concerns, because everyone is able to do something!

Damon Drummond

Acting General Manager

Hi, my name is Damon, and I am the Acting General Manager here at Tyspane. Welcome to our website.

I started my working career in sales/account management working in different sectors, such as logistics, domestic appliances and IT. I got to a stage in my life where I felt I needed to give back to my community, so I began working for the NHS, supporting people with learning disabilities for just under 6 years, finishing in the post of Support Manager, where I oversaw a team of managers working in over 10 different services.

I started working in care homes in 2014, which is when I first became a Registered Manager, and have worked for Bupa, Gracewell Healthcare and Brighterkind. This came as a direct result of seeing how my own grandmother was not treated with dignity and respect whilst in hospital. I have a strong history of turning homes around, engaging staff teams, initiating change and ensuring the residents live a meaningful life.

I believe in building open and honest relationships with residents, relatives and anyone who visits the home. My door is always open, so please feel free to pop in for a chat or a cup of tea.
