Activities at Tyspane Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Tyspane Art Group

Tyspane Art Group

Residents at Tyspane meet weekly and enjoy an art session run by local artist, Jean Leadbeater. Jean is very familiar with the home, as Tyspane cared for her husband, Brian, and Jean herself also spent some time as a resident recuperating after an operation.

Jean commented, saying that, “it is so important to keep an active mind and to find new interests, especially in later life. Art is a medium that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter what their ability is.  It’s lovely to see the residents enjoying themselves; they really engage with each other and are often surprised at just what they can achieve."

We have a selection of residents' art work, which has been framed and is on display around the home for all the residents and visitors to enjoy.

February Employee of the Month

February Employee of the Month

David Brooke, Tyspane's Maintenance Manager, has been named as February's Employee of The Month. David received the most votes from residents and members of staff.

He was nominated because he always tries to help, no matter how busy he is and goes above and beyond to support staff and residents.

Operations Manager, Lesley Cole, is pictured presenting David with his award.

Thank you, David!

Life at Tyspane

We've been keeping ourselves very busy recently at Tyspane. We've had Christmas party entertainment from the multi-talented rock 'n' roll band, The Grumpy Old Men, along with other entertainment from visiting handbell ringers, a ladies choir and singer, Tamsin Ball. Santa Claus himself also paid us a visit on Christmas Day.

National Cupcake Week

National Cupcake Week

National Cupcake Week (18th – 24th September) has been a real treat at Tyspane, where sweet-toothed staff and residents couldn’t wait to get out their aprons and mixing bowls for the occasion.

The week, organised by British Baker Magazine, is a celebration of all things cupcake-related.

Baking is a much-loved hobby for many people who live and work at Tyspane Care Home, so it’s no surprise that the week was full of excitement and creativity. On Monday, we had a cup cake stall with a choir as entertainment.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
