Meet our Activities Coordinator, Bobby Gallagher
My name is Bobby and I have the great privilege of working at Lakeside Care Home as the Activities Coordinator.
My job is fun and very rewarding – and I love it! I regularly invite musicians, artists, bell ringers, gardeners, chefs, and various other entertainers into the home to bring joy to the lives of residents who are living here.
Activities at Lakeside
Our activities staff each bring their own strengths to the table here at Lakeside, which results in a varied list of social events being offered to residents. We have regular outings to restaurants for lunches, afternoon tea & cakes, and through the summer months, we have beach trips with ice cream and picnics, which residents request regularly. On a weekly basis, there is a variety of sports, musical entertainment, hairdressing, one-to-one sessions, exercise programmes, quizzes and PAT dogs available to those we support. On Monday morning each resident receives an activities programme for the week's events and can opt in and out of what they want.
Life at Lakeside Care Home
Residents loved doing a bit baking here at Lakeside, and they enjoyed eating the results even more!
Friday afternoon musical favourites! Residents and visitor requests always welcome!
Residents Enjoy Piano Session
Every week our residents have a musical session, organised by the activities team. Everyone had fun while enjoyed a piano lesson recently at the home. Visitors and music requests are always welcome.
Car Park Open Day
We had a great day, we borrowed a couple of cars from the nearby car dealership, Jacksons CI, to enhance the event. Residents and staff had a great time playing with two executive sports cars. We even designed our own show room. Chef Lorenzo provided some fresh cakes and cupcakes.
Cream Tea Day
We had a lovely afternoon drinking tea and eating lots of cake. The residents had a great time singing and dancing along to the live music.
National Gardening Week
Everyone had lots of fun celebrating National Gardening Week here at Lakeside, which ran from 27th April to 5th May, and is the nation’s biggest celebration of gardening.
Here at Lakeside, we took the opportunity to celebrate this great week by encouraging everyone to share the love and enjoyment of growing produce in our extensive grounds.
Families were in full swing, removing the weeds to decorate our donated plants, bulbs and seeds for our sensory garden.
Residents spent time in their own garden and were able to touch and smell their favourite plants, which provoked others to have a look.
