Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Valentine's Show

Valentine's Show

We had a special Valentine’s show performed by John Hughes at Beeston View on Valentine’s Day. John sang a wide selection of songs based around romance. All the staff on duty got involved and we had a dance with some of the residents. Everyone was happy to sing along. John played a version of the Birdy Song too, which the staff performed for everyone.

Our Newest Guest

Our Newest Guest

This is the newest addition to our cat family here at Beeston View. She is a lovely tabby kitten and was too beautiful to not take a picture of. Unfortunately, she is very shy with people, so the photo had to be taken through the window.

Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not

We have spent the past couple of weeks creating 'forget me not' memories in the form of photo albums. These are a collation of all the photos from 2017, showing all the fun and interesting things we have done together. Residents were able to help us create the books by cutting out photographs and also sticking them on to brightly coloured paper to put in the albums. It was a lovely way to reminisce about last year and will provide lasting memories for us all.

Zoolab

Zoolab

We recently had another visit from Zoolab at Beeston View. These are always a hit with residents, as not only do they get to learn all about the different animals, but they also get to touch, hold and interact with them too.

During their most recent visit they brought in a tarantula, a corn snake named Coco, a fancy rat called Milo, a giant snail, a millipede and a lizard. All the animals were calm and trained well and they always behaved themselves.

Water Painting

Water Painting

We have been creating water paintings at our Art Club recently. These are paintings that the residents can do over and over again, as once the paint is dry, the colour fades and they can be reused. Residents were fascinated by these and one even commented that painting left him with a huge sense of achievement. It has enabled residents to focus on something and for them to see the results instantly.

Christmas Cakes

Christmas Cakes

We had two fantastic cakes donated to us this year for Christmas. We are very grateful when we are thought about over the festive season and the donations are received with huge thanks.
