Sam Gyimah MP unveils new Windmill Manor care home

Residents were delighted when Sam Gyimah MP officiated at the opening of Hurst Green, Oxted's newest care facility, Barchester's Windmill Manor Care Home, at a VIP ceremony.

Sam greeted residents and guests before unveiling the plaque, formally opening the home. All guests were treated to champagne and canapés and were given tours of the purpose built home, run by national care provider Barchester Healthcare. Will Evans, a pupil from Holland Junior School who named Windmill Manor earlier this year, helped cut the cake.

Windmill Manor opened its doors to residents in October. The 60-bed home provides quality care to the local area offering residential services and dedicated dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Communities.

John Lavan, General Manager at Windmill Manor said: "We are all very excited about the opening of Windmill Manor and the residents and staff alike have really enjoyed meeting Sam Gyimah MP. The new facilities will provide high quality care for new residents, which is a huge boost to the local community's care. There's a lot of interest in this new home and the superb quality of care that we offer in a modern, purpose-built setting."

After the tour of the home, Sam Gyimah MP, said: "I was not only struck by the high quality of Windmill Manor, but also by the level of personal service the home offers its residents. Judging by the amount of familiar faces here today, it's already a big part of the community.

"Public policy needs to do a lot more when it comes to dementia to support services like Barchester who provide this vital care."
