Majestic Wine partners with PDS

Majestic Wine has selected the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) as its charity of the year for 2010, promising to raise as much as £40,000 over the coming 12 months, it has been revealed.

The leading wine retailer chose the charity from an extensive shortlist, with members of the company supporting the charity's fight to find a cure for the neurodegenerative disorder.

Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising at the PDS, registered his delight at the announcement and said: "We would like to thank the Majestic staff who voted for us from the shortlist of six charities.

"We are funded entirely by donations so working with Majestic staff and customers to raise much-needed funds for the charity will go a long way in helping us to achieve our goals in the coming year."

Last month, Deloitte announced that the PDS had made the shortlist for the Deloitte Charity of the Year 2010.
