KMPG staff to get on their bikes to fund Alzheimer's research

One of the UK's largest accountancy and audit firms is hoping to raise over £100,000 for research into Alzheimer's Disease.

More than 200 staff at KMPG will be taking part in the Big Blue Bike Ride, a journey that covers 1,000 miles of the UK.

Starting in Aberdeen, cyclists will tour the various locations of KMPG offices throughout the country, collecting additional participants, as well as shedding a few, along the way.

James Robinson, associate partner at KPMG in Aberdeen, said the firm was glad it could help support people living with dementia and their loved ones.

The director of fundraising and marketing at the Alzheimer's Society Jo Swinhoe said: "The support of organisations like KPMG makes it possible to support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.

"Every mile cycled on the Big Blue Bike Ride will make a real difference to people with dementia."

There are currently 820,000 people in the UK living with some form of dementia, according to the Alzheimer's Research Trust.
