Age UK ball raises £230K for older people

A charity ball by Age UK has raised £230,000 for older people, who may be dependent on home care.

The Vitality Ball included performances by stand-up comedian Rodger Monkhouse and 'Sweet About Me' singer Gabriella Cilmi.

A celebrity-packed audience attended, with Barbara Windsor, June Whitfield and Liz McClarnon all enjoying the show.

Performer Ms Cilmi said: "Getting older is something which happens to us all, and Age UK does so much to help older people make the most of life. I hope the event will inspire people to dig deep and support the charity's great work."

The funds raised by the night are to go towards supporting the vital services used by older people, reducing isolation and loneliness for many individuals.

People who wish to donate to the charity can opt for a single or monthly donation on the Age UK website, to improve the quality of life for older disadvantaged people.
