Blooming marvellous

Outside our homes, there is lots to do. An important element of our home’s design is beautiful gardens. We make sure they play an important part aesthetically and therapeutically in everyone’s lives, and many homes have facilities in the gardens for outdoor dining as well as for a range of activities from gardening to sports. The value we place on our gardens is why we launched our Barchester in Bloom competition in 2005 with celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock. This gives our homes the opportunity to showcase their individual skills and team talents in a range of categories:

• Best sensory garden
• Best resident’s garden or project
• Best hanging basket
• Best creative design

Hundreds of our homes compete for these prizes with real passion every year, with staff, the people we support and relatives all involved
