"My brother came to Windmill Manor after a very bad experience in another care home. He is a different person altogether. From the first day, he was settled and calm. He's clean and smart every day. Thanks, Windmill."
J Fcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.58 out of 5
"Staff always helpful and friendly. Kind to my friend and caring. Sometimes feel that resources are stretched but staff always seem to be doing their best. More help with activities would be useful, as would someone who could advise on mobility aids and other things that friends could provide for residents. Always kept informed of the resident's health. My friend seems very happy and settled here."
Jacqueline Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.45 out of 5
"My father has been cared for in a kind and empathetic manner throughout the time he has lived at Windmill Manor. The majority of staff do their utmost to meet the individual requirements of all the residents and have endeavoured to understand my father's personality and needs. I am confident that I am kept updated and alerted to any changes in his condition. The vast majority of the staff are friendly, welcoming and caring. I would recommend Windmill Manor to others requiring a dementia specialist nursing home."
J Fcarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"The care and love shown to my Mum at windmill Manor is second to none. She is very happy here, feeling safe and secure and being kept very well occupied by a variety of activities. The staff work very hard to meet all the residents' needs and always shave a smile for any visitors. Couldn't ask for a better place for my Mum to live."
G Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.67 out of 5
"Windmill Manor was picked as my wife and I felt it was the most suitable for my mother's care. We have always been impressed with the staff's care and attention. The property is well maintained and is always welcoming. Entertainment for the guests is of a high standard."
Nicholas Scarehome.co.uk rating: 4.33 out of 5
"My experience of the home is generally very positive. The staff seem lovely and very caring. My mum often complains about other residents (not sure anything can be done about that) and the food, but I do recognise she can be very negative and that's the easiest thing to complain about. She is clearly cared for, safe, fed and warm, which is good!"
Tim Lcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.18 out of 5
"All staff are most helpful and pleasant. Residents are well cared for and enjoy extremely good food."
A Wcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.33 out of 5
"My mother has been in this care home for two years. She has had extremely good care. All the staff, without exception, are kind and caring. Although very busy, the staff always find the time to chat if you have any queries. The only downside is the high turnover of staff and moves to other parts of the home."
Elizabeth Rcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"I am so grateful that my husband is in this lovely home. The staff are wonderful, so kind and friendly. The building could easily pass as a smart hotel with every amenity even including a coffee bar where visitors can take their loved ones for a change of scenery. My husband agrees if he can't be at home he's in the next best place."
Patricia Ncarehome.co.uk rating: 4.58 out of 5
"Very wary originally due to poor respite care experience elsewhere. However, delighted with Windmill Manor. My husband was smiling and clean and enjoyed his stay. Staff were very reassuring and nothing was made to be a massive problem. This was his first week, but he settled in well and enjoyed the food and fun atmosphere created by the carers. This was not easy as my husband is aphasic."
Candice Lcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.92 out of 5
"Windmill Manor is a great home. My Mum has been there for two years now and the love, care and respect she has received has been amazing. The staff are a dedicated, hard-working, lovely team who not only do all they can for the residents but also care for their relatives and friends. Nothing is too much trouble. The management team is really proactive and approachable and it certainly feels like everyone is working together towards a common goal. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, it feels like my second home and adopted family. The activities are second to none which keeps the residents stimulated and busy, just what Mum needs! I couldn’t recommend Windmill Manor highly enough."
Gill Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.92 out of 5
"My brother who has constant falls, as he had when at home. He is aware of his situation. Staff can only do their best by keeping him under observation when possible and encourage him to be involved in activities. My brother is a loner, living as a single person for many years."
D Scarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"As always staff are very caring and nothing is ever too much trouble."
Annette Wcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.5 out of 5
"I have looked after a neighbour for 2 1/2 years. She now is in need of 24 hour care. She is 93. I found Windmill Manor who were also willing to take her small beloved dog - Mal. Everyone has helped her settle in. They have also been extremely kind to my husband and I. I would recommend this home to anyone."
Elizabeth Fcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"A lovely welcoming home. Staff very friendly and generally the same ones which is very important. My mum seems settled and relaxed and always clean."
Rebecca Ccarehome.co.uk rating: 4.82 out of 5
"The staff, which change often, are caring but my Mother has lost her glasses and hearing aid, neither have been found. There is always an unsavoury smell when you go into the nursing area. Food good as far as I can see."
P Ocarehome.co.uk rating: 3.67 out of 5
"The care, as usual, is still very good."
Lorna Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.5 out of 5
"The genuine desire to provide care is strongly evident in Windmill. My experience over 18 months of caring for my mother was, there seemed to be a core of very good carers who you could always rely on to provide the 'best'. But there were carers who didn't exhibit to the same level, some more recently recruited, which is why I have marked 'good' overall rather than excellent. I would have liked a bit more interaction during the day with residents but it was sometimes evident staff shortages meant this couldn't happen as much. My mother's end of life' care was superb."
Paul Dcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.5 out of 5
"It can be very daunting for residents and their families when a loved one moves into a care home. We took time to look at our options and found that Windmill Manor offered the best care and environment for Mum. The care team were very understanding, and although it took Mum time to settle she is happy and safe."
J Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"My mum has been in 4 different homes but has been at Windmill Manor for 10 months now. It is by far the best place she has been in. She is so well cared for in all aspects. It has been good to see her settle in and make relationships with staff and residents. The staff know her well and treat her with love, kindness and dignity. We couldn't ask for more."
Gill Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.67 out of 5
"The staff are great and in my opinion, underpaid given that the home costs in excess of £4,800 PCM. It would be nice to see them being paid more for what is a very hard job. Dad's carers are what made me choose this home in the first place, they are fantastic."
Craig Ccarehome.co.uk rating: 4.25 out of 5
"My wife has been resident at Windmill Manor Care Home since August 2014. Throughout that time her care has been excellent; despite her immobility, she is always clean and well-dressed. The carers are patient and kind and manage instances of difficult behaviour in a caring and professional manner. Residents and relatives are treated with respect and kindness by all the staff."
N Scarehome.co.uk rating: 4.83 out of 5
"This is a lovely home, myself and my husband and my family are very happy to have him here being cared for with the carers and the nurses and staff. They are excellent people."
Brenda Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"My mother could not be anywhere better. Carers are second to none. Staff are all pleasant and cannot be more helpful, both to residents and their relatives."
A Wcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"I cannot praise Windmill Care Home enough. Without exception all of the staff are excellent and the home is run extremely well. The atmosphere in the home is positive and happy. My mother has been here for 5 months and the change in her is amazing - I have never seen her smile so much. Nothing is too much trouble and staff are always willing to listen and be listened to. Long may they continue."
Elizabeth Rcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.58 out of 5
"I am very pleased with how my mother is cared for. Staff excellent."
Wendy Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.33 out of 5
"My Mum is well cared for. The interaction between staff and residents is always caring. The staff are very understanding and helpful and deal with any distressed behaviour from residents in a kind and compassionate way. My sister and I are very happy with how my Mum is cared for and we now don't have to worry about our Mum as she is safe."
Heather Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.92 out of 5
"My wife, a dementia sufferer has received efficient and loving care since entering the home. The staff, particularly the carers, are always considerate but maintaining this standard is made difficult by the high turn-over."
Fred Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"My experience is to witness care of the highest standard. All the staff are pleasant and professional. My mother who has dementia also praises all the staff saying how kind they are to her."
Annette Wcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"Carers are wonderful! Mum often does not want to get up in the mornings or shower, but they always manage to do more than I ever would ever be able to do with my own mother! Mum was quite thin and not remembering to eat when she first came, but now she is looking like her old self again. Our thanks."
Tricia Scarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"Staff are caring and supportive, helpful and friendly to both residents and carers. Environment: clean, welcoming and engaging. My father is content and engaged in numerous activities appropriate to his needs."
Susan Gcarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"My friend was admitted as an end of life approach resident. I promised her I would not let her enter a care home - that I would nurse her at home (which I did for 2 years) but her condition worsened to such an extent that I had no other option. Among other things, my friend has vascular dementia so was not wholly aware of her circumstances. I could not have chosen a more caring home for her."
Patricia Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.08 out of 5
"The home specialises in dementia care. The atmosphere is lovely and staff are supportive and friendly. Nursing care is of a good standard and other care offered is good and professional. Relatives are well supported, both by staff and other relatives and included in many activities. Food is very good. My husband has now put on too much weight! On admission, he was very thin!"
Alison Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.17 out of 5
"Mum is very well looked after by the staff at Windmill Manor, all of whom seem very caring and treat her with real affection and respect. The food is good and despite having a very small appetite she enjoys her meals. They make an effort to provide Mum with high-calorie supplements, to counteract her falling weight, and always let the family know if there are concerns about her health."
Margaret Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"I believe our Mother is well cared for at Windmill Manor. She always looks clean and fresh and her health appears good. The staff are always very friendly, despite being busy, and they appear to include residents as much as they are able. However, I am not too sure how much staff time allows for 'one to one' interaction. Being able to drop by to see our mother at any time during the day is very helpful, and I also see the home as it runs on a daily basis. It is especially nice to be able to take Mum out into the coffee lounge/reception."
Cathy Rcarehome.co.uk rating: 3.67 out of 5
"My family and I are very happy that my mother settled into the care home without any difficulty. The admission procedures were smooth, and she soon adapted to the daily routine. She is well-fed and well cared for, and seems as happy as her dementia seems to allow her to be."
William Acarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"My father came to Windmill Manor from another home, where he was extremely unhappy and would constantly pace. That stopped almost immediately. The home feels relaxed and comfortable. The staff are totally dedicated to the care of the residents and despite my father's issues, they are nothing but caring and supportive to him."
Nikki Tcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.42 out of 5
"My wife has experienced nothing but careful and loving care, ever since entering Windmill Manor as a resident suffering from dementia. I have every respect for the carers who do a job that I would not have the patience to do. My only concern is the high staff turnover rate, which I suppose is due to the difficulties of the job they do, relative to their remuneration plus ongoing problems of recruitment. The care home makes every effort to keep residents entertained, both by the staff themselves or by visiting artists."
Frederick Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.25 out of 5
"We are happy with the care given to our mother over the last couple of months. She is very well looked after and always looks smart and clean. The staff are always friendly and caring towards both residents and visitors."
Clairecarehome.co.uk rating: 4.33 out of 5
"Windmill Manor is the 4th care home that my mother has been in and whilst they have all been good, Windmill Manor is most definitely the best in every respect. The love and care that my mother has received since being there have been great. The nurses and carers treat everyone with respect and dignity, and nothing is too much trouble. They manage to maintain a sense of humour under sometimes very trying circumstances. The managers and receptionists are very friendly and welcoming and the coffee room is a real plus factor. The activities offered are amazing and certainly keep my mother occupied and amused! The standard of cleanliness is high throughout. I would have no hesitation in recommending Windmill Manor."
Gill Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"I believe that Windmill Manor is second to none and I cannot thank every single member of staff enough. This is a very challenging time for me, as I have come to realise that my much loved Dad needs round the clock care. I have always found the fantastic team at Windmill Manor to be remarkably caring, knowledgeable and meticulous. Their professionalism has made this difficult situation as easy as it can be. The carers have not only treated my father with respect but also they seem to know him really well and care deeply about him. Thank you all."

"How nice it is to go in and be greeted by happy friendly staff. Love the family area and it is nice and clean, my mother is much happier here than the previous nursing home. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a relation to be in a great place."
Iancarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"After myself and my brother had come to a decision to move my mother out of a care home, which we both felt was very poor in all departments, we found this care home which I viewed and was very happy with. We moved my mother into this one. Since she has been here, I find every time I have been in to see her, the carers have been very caring and professional in their jobs, which is a breath of fresh air. I can't imagine how people can do such a demanding job. I can see my mother is cared for very well, as she looks so much better in herself. It's been a short time since coming here but the improvement in my mother is down to the hard work of everyone in this care home The only regret is I wish we had found this place earlier. I can't thank the carers enough."
Chris Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"Mum has been at Windmill Manor for nearly two and a half years and is approaching her 101st birthday. As a family, we know that had we not moved mum, she would not have made it to her 100th! The care and love that she receives from all the staff is second to none. Being the age she is now, she sleeps a great deal, but she does not miss out. When she is awake, she is fully involved with the activities that go on. Mum's diet is very good, with nutritional drinks being given and enjoyed. There is a new doctor, who is so caring - speaking to family members when he sees you. As a family, we have been able to relax knowing that mum is being well looked after. She has no pain and is on no medication."
Lynda Tcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"Windmill Manor is supported by a thoughtful team who treat people with dignity and respect. The home offers a range of supportive activities and a pleasant environment for all residents. My father appears to be very content."

"In all ways, I have found all the staff in the home to be very helpful to my family with regards to my Uncle needing to be a resident in the home. They have all been sympathetic, understanding and helpful."

"We couldn't have chosen a better care home for our Mum. You cannot fault the care and attention she gets from all the staff - regardless of their job at the care home. Wonderful facilities, surroundings and entertainment. Our Mum is having a great time - company, entertainment and being attended to. We really enjoy visiting her and getting involved with the activities we can also attend. Lovely, friendly atmosphere that makes us feel welcome. We are coming here when it is our turn."
James Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"My husband has been a resident for over 4 years. The staff are always friendly and welcoming to visitors. The carers are exceptional, treating residents with warmth, patience, dignity and kindness. I find the home is light and spacious with lounges and well decorated/furnished wide corridors for residents who are mobile to walk around. The coffee bar area is an excellent space for visitors to spend time with their relatives. The managers of the home are available, whenever possible, to answer queries or address any concerns which are outside the remit of the carers. However a permanent experienced ‘Floor Manager’ is definitely needed on Memory Lane to co-ordinate and manage on a daily basis (hence the 'good' but not 'excellent'!) but I understand recruitment is underway."
VMGcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.33 out of 5
"Welcoming to residents and relatives. Communication systems a bit hard to fathom (who to ask about what). I think some of this info could be in written form in a 'welcome pack'. Staff are approachable and reassuring - relationships between residents and carers are warm and engaging - they know the residents well. :)"
Jennie Scarehome.co.uk rating: 3.92 out of 5
"Mum has been at Barchester Windmill Manor Care Home for 18 months and is settled and happy. The care here is superb and personal and the food is very good."
Margaret Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.92 out of 5
"Caring environment, friendly and engaging but would be good if staff had more time to sit, talk and console. Remembering to shave dad occasionally would be good and make sure he is wearing clothes that fit and are clean but I accept that he does have a reasonable level of independence that should be encouraged."
Susan Gcarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"My mother in law has a very sad case of dementia and I have found on my visits everything to be satisfactory in terms of her care and well-being. My wife (her daughter) sees her almost every day is in a better position to make a detailed judgement. I find the activities programme to be really progressive in her care."
Peter Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.5 out of 5
"I think the people who run the care home are very good. The carers are brilliant, they look after the residents very well and are always available to answer questions. The activity people do a very good job there is something for everyone."
June Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"My mother has lived in the home for a while and is happy and cared for. I find the staff who sometimes have to deal with challenging residents, as the home is for those with dementia, excellent in their care of my mother and cannot fault their kindness to her and to my family."
Lesley Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.25 out of 5
"My wife has been a resident for nearly three years during which time she has enjoyed an excellent standard of care. Despite her immobility and often difficult behaviour, the staff are kind and patient at all times. Her personal hygiene is maintained to a high standard. The medical staff are diligent in checking her physical and mental health."

"Windmill Manor provides my sister with all of her needs. The accommodation is comfortable and warm. The food is varied and good. There is ample room to walk around and a pleasant garden area. The "social" room is large with plenty of chairs and a TV. The activities are varied and well organised with residents taking an active part. Music and singing is very popular and well attended."
L Hcarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"All my experiences at the home have been very friendly. My Mother-in-Law always looks clean and taken care of. I wish more old music was played during the day."

"My mother has very serious dementia and Alzheimer's. It was a difficult decision to put her into care. However, we could not have chosen a better care home. The staff and facilities are second to none. The care attention and dedication of all those working in the home cannot be faulted."
Jim Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"Windmill Manor is a wonderful Care Home that I and my family would highly recommend. The care and love that is given to my mother is second to none. We had to move out mother from another Care Home. Our mother had been at this home for two and a half years and the move was not an easy one but very necessary. Our mother has just celebrated her 100th birthday at Windmill Manor, a birthday that we are sure she would not have been celebrating had we not moved her. At Windmill Manor the residents are always their first priority - the manager is always trying to ensure that she employs good, caring staff. The families of residents at Windmill Manor are also very well looked after through excellent communication and always having an 'open door' policy with regards to always being available to answer any questions or queries. As a family, we would not hesitate to recommend Windmill Manor as a home that is a real home to all its residents!"
Lynda Tcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"I found it very difficult to make the decision that it was time for mum to go into a home. I had always said I would not do it so the guilt was off the scale. Mum has mixed vascular Alzheimer's. Stopping in her own home meant she became a danger to herself as she lived alone. The staff were marvellous and she settled very quickly. She has been at Barchester Windmill Manor Care Home for almost five years now and has been happy. For the first three years, she had a better social package than me. Then we found out mum had lung cancer, the level of care she has received is second to none. Everyone from the manager to the chef and everyone between has been so supportive of her changing needs and also my own."
Barbara Scarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"My wife has been at Barchester Windmill Manor Care Home since February '16. Overall, the care has been good. Some staff are excellent. My wife has had medical problems and the have responded well with either the doctor being called or the ambulance called and she was in hospital with a chest infection. I like the way residents can express a likeness for certain foods. (My wife likes mushroom and eggs)."
John Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.25 out of 5
"Home is good. Have been involved for nearly 5 years (previously next of kin to a family friend). Carers and nurses are excellent and always work extremely hard. Food very good, all homemade. Coffee lounge is a very good place to bring the relatives away from the "floor"."
