Activities at Winchester House Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local priory and garden centres, as well as visits from musicians, a wide range of entertainers. We are lucky enough to have a enthusiastic team of volunteers who regularly visit the home throughout the week, and our yearly pantomime is a real crowd-pleaser and is well-attended by residents, relatives and members of staff. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Winchester House is fun and active.

Flower Arranging at Winchester House

Here at Winchester House our Residents like to be very creative, so we did some flower arranging to brighten up our home for other Residents and staff members. It's so lovely having fresh flowers around our home, not to mention the amazing smells.

A fabulous shopping trip

Did you know that our home has a minibus for taking Residents on trips and outings and for outbound activities. We have just recently visited Hempstead Valley shopping centre.

Some of our ladies here at Winchester House like to do their own shopping so that’s what we did, The ladies love to buy beauty products so we visited the shop Boots, and we also had a browse around Marks and spencer’s before having a sophisticated lunch at Marks and Spencer’s, before heading home myself and a Residents thought we would have some fun trying on hats.

Cheese and Wine Evening

Did you know that our home holds lots of different events throughout the year, So we started the year off with a Fabulous Cheese and Wine evening. We had Entertainment from a lovely couple that visit us here at Winchester House quite regular.

Residents and their families joined in with the fun. There was lots of dancing and mingling and don’t forget the wine which was flowing throughout the night, everyone had a great evening.

International Flower Day

Residents at Winchester House celebrated International Flower Day which took place on January 19th.

International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day.

Residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging competition and reminiscing about their gardens/flowers in the home’s garden, which everyone really enjoyed.  Their collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.

New Year's Eve Celebrations

Winchester House got in to the party spirit, as they all dressed up in their best clothes, had a three course meal made by our wonderful chefs here at Winchester, and also enjoyed a tipple or too, to celebrate the new year.

A Visit from Santa
