Activities at Winchester House Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local priory and garden centres, as well as visits from musicians, a wide range of entertainers. We are lucky enough to have a enthusiastic team of volunteers who regularly visit the home throughout the week, and our yearly pantomime is a real crowd-pleaser and is well-attended by residents, relatives and members of staff. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Winchester House is fun and active.

World Cruise Week - India

We are cruising to 5 different countries this week. We have just visited India, and were lucky enough to have a dancing performance and taught by a lady from India. Our Residents and staff all got involved and tried the dancing. We were then treated to an Indian feast made by our very own chef Matt.

Happy retirement Mike!

We said goodbye to our local vicar Mike, who will be missed by all, with a lovely tea party and gifts. Mike sent us this lovely note.

Thank you to you and all of your colleagues for the very generous hamper from Winchester House for my leaving, and for the tea party.
Thank you too for the way you have really worked hard over some years now to facilitate the spiritual care in the home.
You all do a wonderful job in the Activities Team!
I have very much enjoyed the involvement I have had in WH, and I’m sure that Gwen and Marie will continue to do a great job with your help, and I hope it won’t be too long before there is a new vicar.
Have a good summer.
God bless.
Mike

Coronation Celebrations

Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style.

Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal tea party.

The whole home came together, along with families, friends and local community members to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of champagne.

We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.

St. Georges Day

In honour of St George, patron saint of England, we decorated our home, dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed a delicious festive lunch, prepared by our talented chef.

We spent some time learning top facts about St George and tested our knowledge with a fun-filled themed quiz.

We had a wonderful day.
