Activities at Winchester House Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local priory and garden centres, as well as visits from musicians, a wide range of entertainers. We are lucky enough to have a enthusiastic team of volunteers who regularly visit the home throughout the week, and our yearly pantomime is a real crowd-pleaser and is well-attended by residents, relatives and members of staff. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Winchester House is fun and active.

Life at Winchester House Care Home

Canvas Colouring

Residents at Winchester House just love to colour, as it is known to be very therapeutic and keeps their minds calm. Colouring on canvas is a wonderful project that we can keep going back to throughout the home, and we can look forward to displaying the finished art work up on the wall.

Shake Service

Room-to-room shake service was loved by all, as residents at Winchester House had the opportunity to try various flavours of milkshakes they’d never tried before, from strawberry and vanilla to chocolate fudge brownie and cookie dough! Each milkshake was then topped with fresh cream and a choice of sprinkles and marshmallows.

A Sweet tooth

We thought everyone deserved the sweetest of treats this week, so say hello to our DIY sweet cart! It was smiles all round as our sweet cart wheeled its way round the whole home offering everyone their very own pick-a-mix. There was plenty of treats to choose from, from marshmallows to wine gums, dolly mixtures and chalk lollies, not to mention our flying saucers which were out of this world.

Pamper Session

Care Practitioner, Sam, brought in her at home nail kit and treating everyone to their own pamper session. Residents enjoyed having their pamper session today and experimenting with gel nails, which for most of them was a whole new concept! Next step, hair and nails!

Sweet Treats

We had a choctastic afternoon turning our left over Easter eggs into some delicious rice krispy cakes! Everyone had their own bowl and ingredients and had so much fun not only making them but taste testing them all too

Flower Power

Residents on our residential dementia unit had a wonderful time making decorations and arranging flowers for their courtyard garden. They worked together and had fun blowing bubbles while making the area look perfect for future garden visits and parties with their loved ones.
