Activities at Winchester House Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local priory and garden centres, as well as visits from musicians, a wide range of entertainers. We are lucky enough to have a enthusiastic team of volunteers who regularly visit the home throughout the week, and our yearly pantomime is a real crowd-pleaser and is well-attended by residents, relatives and members of staff. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Winchester House is fun and active.

Therapy and Stimulation

Here at Winchester House in our Memory Lane,  we understand how important it is to stimulate our residents in many different ways.  We are very proud of our magic table, an all in one interactive solution for stimulation.  The Magic Table is a projector that can project absolutely  anywhere and is seen on the picture above projecting a game onto our floor mat. Our residents love it and there are many,  many games they can play and enjoy the magic of the Magic Table.

We also have some therapy dolls for residents on our memory lane who would benefit from the pleasure and relaxation the dolls could bring.

Welcome back! We are so pleased to see you.

As per the recent government guidlines, Rochester House is delighted to welcome back family members once again this week!   Relatives are now able to see each other with the use of our visiting suites as well as dedicated family members being able to visit in bedrooms following a negative LFD test and wearing full PPE.   Video calling is also being continued, its such a pleasure to see so many happy reunions.

We LOVE Valentine's Day

We have been spreading love all over the home by making cards and reminiscing on all the love in our lives, past and present. This week we’ve heard some amazing stories about childhood sweethearts, romantic proposals and life long marriages. For both residents and staff it's been a really lovely experience.

Nominate your local Hero

Via social media we asked people to nominate their local hero's.  Nominees included Staff Member's, local teachers and NHS works.  The residents chose the amazing members of our community that they felt were their hero's and we supplied the chocolates and flowers. Thank you so much for all you do

Maintaining our Healthy Balanced Diet

We know how important eating our 5 a day is to our physical health, but did you know that maintaining a healthy balanced diet can work wonders on our mental health and well-being.   As lockdown continues we all need to make sure we are taking care of ourselves as well as each other, both physically and mentally. We may not be able to head to the market just yet, but that didn’t stop the market coming to us

Vaccination's

The Staff at Winchester House had their vaccines at St Mary's Medical Centre in Strood. Amber, our activities team leader said the process was slick and professional.  Thank you St Mary's for looking after our team so well.  Our residents have been vaccinated at Winchester House for their wellbeing and comfort they didn't have to leave their home. A massive thank you to all involved from our residents and staff.
